How I rate the 14th gyms:

 

1. Knott Central (great seats, no parking, no exit)

2. PCC

3. Breathitt County

 

Notables

MC Napiers old gym

Dilce Combs old gym (no parking)

 

Memorial Gymnasium at Hazard is not even close. No parking, you have to walk up mountain to get there, and the old musky air is not good on the allergies.

The best new gym in Kentucky is the Expo Center at Pikeville. There is not a bad seat in the house and all seats have backs. The place holds a ton of people also.....

Would anyone happen to know the capacity of Montgomery County's new gym??

I do not know the capacity, but I do know that it doesn't seat as many as the Fieldhouse.

I heard Montgomery was 4000 but there is a new way to measure the seats now 12" rather than 6"

I'll go with Scott County, followed by Lexington Catholic & Mason County.

 

The loudest gym I've ever heard is Scott County. It's not always loud, but when it gets loud, it gets LOUD.

 

Marshall County & Covington Catholic were both mentioned by USA Today in '04 as one of the best places to watch a high school basketball game in the nation.

As for me it would have to be Henry Co., I have never meet a player who did not love to play there.

This is interesting considering that Scott Co.'s gym and Montgomery Co.'s are nearly identical. Both are top notch facilities. I can't wait to see Montgomery Co.'s gym fill up, it hasn't experienced its first big game yet.

Do they play college basketball at Breathitt Co.? Why the shot clocks?

 

they don't have actual shot clocks, but they do have a game clock above the backboard. Which is good for players to keep track of time.

I went to Perry County last night for the first time. Great gym byt Knott County is still the best I have been in.

Scott County's gym is the best I have seen. Period

 

You're joking right? After being there last week, I really enjoyed looking through that lovely red rail!! AND putting all the visiting teams fans upstairs is just plain RUDE!!!!

Like I said in another post, I liked the gym at Scott County. Nothing wrong with setting thinks up for some home-court advantage. I just wish that with all the money spent on the facility, someone could have sprung for a decent microphone.
