In the 14th region Knott Central has the best gym. Seats 5,000, with most seats chairback. It was renovated a couple of years ago and is really nice.The only handicap with the facility is they need an extra exit roue to move the traffic out better. One outlet is not enough.

 

Breathitt's coliseum is the best in the 14th to me, and it's not just because of where I am from. I know they don't have the chairback seats, but the interior is absolutely beautiful. I also like how the fans are seperated from the players and floor (just as Knott's is). The shot clocks on top of the goals also add to the facility. Parking is a draw back, but if one knows the city of Jackson very well, then parking is close. I think the dome roof also adds a lot. That's something that not a lot of high schools have.

I mentioned Mason Co gym as being on of the best if not the best in Ky high school, but for the people in the upper deck, the scoreboard is very hard to see. They either need scoreboards in all 4 corners of the gym or one that hangs in the center.

I think that breathitt has a great place to play ball. It has new shot clocks and lights around the back board. I was at hazard once and it was raining and the roof start leaking. The coach had to go and hold a blanket over it.

Do they play college basketball at Breathitt Co.? Why the shot clocks?

Scott County has the best gym in the 11th but if anyone from Lex Cath has read this, they are probably breaking ground on a new multi-million dollar facility to be filled with players from all over the state...JUST A JOKE; DON'T TAKE IT PERSONAL...:jump:

The Student section at Owen County is becoming one of the best i have ever seen. they must have at least 150 students each game. I know whenever i've traveled there they get loud

I guess I am just old school, but I like those really small gyms where if you shoot the ball too high you will hit the lights and when the crowd is really into it you can feel the floor shake. There is no feeling like it to me, its like real energy just pumping in there. I know that times have changed but I love it.

I like the gyms where you come in from the top and the stands are off the floor like Knott Central and Hazard.

I personally like Knott Centrals gym...Plenty of seating. All KCC needs to do is add another exit route and they are set. I would like to see them, this will never happen, but to put another set of end zone seats for the opposing pep section! Which I must say Knott Centrals pep club has really gotten into it this year.

It has to be Mason Co.

Im a 12th region man and i have to say that Pulaski Co have to have one of the best gym. I'll go on to say that most gyms would make a great gym if the program is doing well. win win win!!!!!

Bids are being solicited....just kidding. I would agree that Scott County is bigger which is the aspect that makes it better in my opinion. Lex. Cath. does not have any end of court seats. However, I take exception to the fact that Scott County sells all of its premium seats as reserved to its constituency so that visitors have to take the under the basket or whatever they can get seats. Lex. Cath. leaves ALL of its seats 1st come, 1st serve.

When the new high school in Harlan County is built, we will have the top gymnaisum in the state:
