SK will get better. I agree with you I think they will win 6a up here. They have some beef up front. I hope those players are back soon. When is the last time SK beat Beechwood? 

Let’s call it a running clock. It was 30-0 and Beechwood had a scoop and score that was probably one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen

Most posters did not predict a running clock. A 3-4 TD advantage was an average of what we saw. No slam on SK. A superior team normally wins handily in HS football. Beechwood was clearly superior to a Crone-less SK and would have won even if Chase played. It would have been closer, no doubt. Congrats to Beechwood.

Here is the question of the night for me. Does Simon Kenton always go for it on 4th down?

They punted one time last night. On their first possession of the game, they went 3 and out and punted. Every other possession, SK went for it on fourth down, even when they were in their own territory. In the first quarter trailing 9-0, SK went for it on 4th down at their own 37. That makes no sense to me.

The way I look at it, is if I believe I’m going to have a hard time stopping the other team, field position isn’t that important. Going for it gives me a chance to retain possession this keeping the other team off the field. Especially if I don’t trust my punting game. I really don’t have an issue with SK not punting much in this game.

You and I are thinking similarly. When SK went for it in the first quarter on 4th down at their own 37, to me that was a concession call that Coach Lucas thought they had little chance of winning. Going for it there down just 9-0, you are saying we need to take big risks and hope something works to have any chance of winning this game. He was right. I still would not have gone for that one. Too early and too close in the score. 

The later ones near mid field where he went for it on 4th and they were further behind, those are more reasonable. But I will add, Beechwood's scoring drives were 46 yards, 49 yards, 52 yards and 40 yards.

Crone does alot of the punting. But they do like to go for it.

Sounds like SK starting district play with 2-4 record. At least I'll say this, Gotta give it to him. He called it, the defense is a lot better. They went from giving up 42pts per game last season to only 30 points per game do far this year. That's improvement.
