Final.

If you like defense then this would be your game.

Whoa. Bit of an upset here I would say.

Tough game.  47 minutes and 8 seconds of scoreless football, when Newport executes an over-the-middle pass advancing the ball form their own 31 to mid-field and then a long sideline well-contested pass completion to Adonaje Lowe, which set up the MyKell Martin three-yard touchdown plunge and Newport wins.

There were 7 punts and 2 Pass Interceptions in the first half.  Brossart had the ball on the Newport 17 and 15 on two separate occasions and came up empty in the third quarter, and Newport marched from their own 31 for the game winner with under a minute remaining in the contest.  Maybe they deserved to win.  This was only our third shutout loss since 2013.

The photos below (Tim Cooper Photos) show the sequence of the last pass completion setting up the game-winner..  Sometimes you have to give credit where due.

Congratulations to Coach Hahn on his first win!

Kind of what I thought I figured BB would be pretty good this year.

Seems like Brossart is always solid defensively; they play quite a few low scoring games and win quite a few as well.

Graduated a lot of experience.  Roster #'s are up, but Mustang fans need to be patient while staff develops this young group.

Played without the service of our primary quarterback, Sophomore Keegan Gulley who was injured last week in the Dayton game.  We were happy to see Keegan on the sideline with his teammates last night.  Tyler Holtz stepped in and did an admirable job.  We now have a week to prepare for Bellevue.

What’s the time table for the quarterback?

Always appreciate your comments Mustang. I know you remember my comments on a broadcast many years ago about where the program could go. You give opponents credit and applaud players like Tyler stepping up when injuries occur. In today's world that's refreshing. Rooting for both teams next week lol.

I not only remember the quote issued from the top of Bellevue Stadium when the Bellevue Tigers were having their way with us, but refer to it often in conversation and on broadcasts.

"These coaches know that it is only a matter of time before Brossart Football becomes as contentious as our other sports, and will be winning football championships before long."

There is no time table for Keegan Gulley.  We will take it a day at a time.  He suffered a serious concussion where he was knocked unconscious and required a breathing tube.  Since then (last Friday night) he has become coherent, seen a specialist, attended school for a few hours, and was on the sidelines for our football game Thursday night.  The good news is that Keegan has vowed to return.  When that happens is up to Keegan's parents and the medical community.

One thing that we have learned from our football experience to date is that there is a big difference between football players and boys who play football.  With that said, there are a lot of potential football players in our pipeline.

I agree. Even with the score being as low as it was, I would have thought this to be a Mustangs win.
