Who are some of the top freshmen in the state? Just curious if there are any standouts? Or many big time prospects? Thanks! 

I recently saw Kaden Magwood from Western HS in Louisville play.

He’s a big strong guard that if he continues to improve should be a D1 prospect. Averages about 12 points a game on a very good Western team.

At this point, I have to think Malachi Moreno at Great Crossing would be at the top.  Averaging a double-double this year (11.2 ppg & 11.4 rpg).

Jasper Johnson at Woodford County averaging a team-high 13.1 ppg.

Magwood and Julius Edmunds, both from Western, both averaging 12.7 ppg.  Edmunds shooting 63% from the floor too.

Greg Brooks at Cordia is the top freshman scorer in the state at 22.2 ppg.  Hitting 44% of his 3's too.

Sawyer Thompson at Pineville is averaging 20.6 ppg.

Not to be a homer, but Cayden Reed at Bracken County is averaging 18 ppg & shooting 51% from the floor.

Another NKY freshman is EJ Walker at Lloyd.  He's getting 10.1 ppg & shooting 57% from the field.

Sawyer Thompson-Pineville, 20 ppg

Greg Brooks- Cordia, 22 ppg

I have seen all of the group except Brooks and Thompson.  Does appear to be a pretty good class of talent.

I'm really more impressed with the entire Freshmen class at Great Crossing, of course Moreno will be a player in coming years.  This Freshmen class has to remind of the class that Billy Hicks had at Scott County a few years ago lead by another Moreno.  The 11th region better be on the lookout for the Warhawks, maybe as early as this year.

I am told EJ Walker has a D-1 offer from Youngstown State.  Really impressive for that youngster.

Not sure I buy into that.  Can a D-1 school publicly offer a Freshmen?

Started every game since he was in 7th grade. Averaged 13 as an 8th grader and was 38% from 3.

Grew to around 5'11 160 this year and can really handle the ball and solid fundamentally. So far averaging around 15, 4 and 4 with 2 steals a game. 49% from field, 38% from 3, 81% from FT line. 

Would be interesting to know how many on that list should be sophomores.  I heard recently that Magwood got an offer from Coastal Carolina.  But then someone else told me an assistant coach at that school has Louisville ties (to Collegiate, specifically) and had scoured the region, making offers to several (as in quite a few) kids.  Point the person was making to me - don't be too impressed with that offer, plenty of kids got it.

45th district has several good freshman. These are few that are starting or playing significant varsity minutes.

Danville - has Demauriah Brown, Camron Jackson, Ontario Hill

DCA - Titus Boyd, Lual Ayiei 6'11 

Garrard - has Montavian Quisenberry

DCA and Danville will have absolute battles the next few years with those Freshman. The Ads also have 6'3 Freshman Treyvaughn Paige who I heard is out with a knee injury. Montavin is the best Freshman in the 12th region.

He has 2 D1 offers.
