Personally I don't think Pete cares about it.   Getting into the Hall at this point would ruin his business model.   He's made a fortune being the guy MLB hosed over.

It is 100% on the BBWAA.  They are the ones who decide who is, and who isn't eligible to be voted on for the Hall of Fame.  It is their rule that players on the suspended list by MLB are not eligible.  They could change that at any time and put Rose's name on the ballot.   MLB has no control over the BBWAA's rules.   They could decide tomorrow to allow players on the suspended list to appear on the ballot.  But they've shown no inclination to do so.  

I did not know that.  I assumed that was dictated to them by MLB.

Regardless, I don't think Pete cares.  As I said, he makes good money off of being snubbed by baseball.

Actually, I believe you and @Carl Spackler are both wrong.  It is actually a committee from the HOF that comes up with the ballot itself.  The BBWAA simply vote on what is given to them by said committee.

The HOF committee are the ones who came up with the rule back in '91 that said any player banned from baseball (by MLB) would not be eligible to be put on the ballot.  This was done specifically for Rose.  That's why he's never been on the ballot, but Bonds, Clemens, etc. have been.  The end results may have been the same (not getting into the HOF), but the routes they took were definitely different.

That's just semantics isn't it? The 6 person screening committee is made up of members of the BBWAA.  So it's still the BBWAA, not MLB that is keeping Rose, and others from appearing on the ballot.

Are they also the ones that decided anyone convicted of a felony would not be eligible, just after sneaking Fergie Jenkins in?   Right after Pete's tax evasion conviction?   I think they just have it out for Rose.

Yes, I just heard it explained exactly like you said. The HOF committee decides who is on the ballot and they are the ones that put the rule in place, specifically to keep Rose out.
