There have been some pretty good talent to travel through the halls of this very small school. Fairview could put their top ten up against just about anybody's in the 16th region, in my humble opinion.

 

I agree. For a small school they always seem to have big players and from time to time great guard play. It would be nice to see a year in which it all came together. I guess last years team would be the closest, except for '75.

I believe that Helton's senior year that Fairview went to the Regional Finals

Reply: I just looked it up on Ole Miss All-Time Letter winners and Quillen never earned a Varsity letter for the Rebels. He was a great player and I should've included him sorry?

No he never earned a letter. He returned home after one semester. Thats not because he couldn't play. Personal reasons, wanting to be closer to home I believe.

Yes that is all too often the case with many players from our area. It is a true shame, Mike Scott was dominant as a freshmen at Wake Forest and came back to be closer to his girlfriend and family at UK. He basically rotted on the bench at UK. Todd May from Virgie basically the same story. Unfortunately that has made some D-1 schools wary of Eastern KY players.

Unfortunately for Todd May, he was at UK at the same time as Joe B. Hall. I once heard Bobby Knight say that if he would have known that Larry Bird was going to turn out to be that good then he (Coach Knight) would have taken more of an interest in him and looked after him more the first couple of weeks of school.

His senior year '90, they had tremendous guard play with Helton, Steve Schultz, and Bobby Clark. But inside play was average at best. Jackie Hammonds was able to score around the basket, but Chris Whitlock was inconsistant.

Bellevue- and this is as far back as I can remember which is only 1978.

Troy was a good player, was he better than Pouncy I don't think so but he should be recognized. IMO Joe Harney was the best player to come out of HC in the last 20 yrs. What about Barry Scott? He was a prolific scorer in the early 80's when the Indians wore the sleeves on their uniforms.
