South Warren 46 Woodford County 25

Featured Replies

Final South Warren will now take on Douglass Saturday, December 4 at 4:00pm for the 5A title.

Not a huge surprise. I expected a dominant win by South Warren.

It exceeded my expectations with a such a blow out in the first half though.

Anyone who thought WC had a chance just hasn't seen South Warren play very much.

WC schedule was very weak. That particular area of the state tends to be weak. This group of WC was also just too inexperienced for a situation like this as well.

Easy call.

I see South beating FD pretty handy as well. FD's defense is solid, but their offense is too sloppy and relies too much on one player.

South will beat FD by 10-14+.

SW is a really strong team no doubt, glad they won. Looks like they played a pretty week schedule too, outside of their loss to the team from TN.

Could see the game going either way next week.

Coach Smith, Coach McCloud and the rest of the South Warren staff have established their program as a contender year after year. Coach Johnson and his staff have turned Woodford Countys program around. Congrats to both teams

Yeah their schedule is always really weak. But they did beat Bowling Green twice and played that Hendersonville team. And probably couple more teams better than what was on WC schedule.

South should handle FD.

Congratulations to Coach Johnson and the Jackets on a tremendous year! Let’s be honest no one was expecting them to be where they are right now! SW is and has been good since the creation. I remember the first one in 4A and now being an assertive force in 5A Coach Smith will have these boys ready and I would think they will be hoisting a trophy next weekend.

Congrats to South Warren! Congrats to Woodford County on a great season!

Yeah, and you said there was NO WAY that Boyle could beat Freddy D!!

Woodford is winning this one, like I said. Cheers.

Hungover in Andover you need to get out of the prognostication business because you suck!!!

Thanks! I wanted Woodford rather than South Warren, so there's that. Guess who I think is winning next Saturday?

Hmmmm!

A few observations and questions.

First, congrats to WC on a great season. They definitely have a great fan base and some good talent. 71 and 41 are very talented players.

Despite WC's lack of success in the first half, I will say that their O-line was by far the best that South has seen this year. Cook did really well at the line of scrimmage and they had a little more success running the ball than about anyone the Spartans have played.

The stadium was extremely nice. However, I don't understand how you spend that much money on a facility and not have a play clock. What's up with that?

WC seemed very surprised that anyone could kickoff a ball more than 30 yards. Is this something that they didn't see during the season? They didn't line up anyone to receive deep. Then their kicker always kicked very short.

I was also really surprised at the lack of pass coverage. SW's receivers were pretty wide open most of the night.

WC did expose South's secondary a few times. I guess they aren't really weak, but that is where the Spartans are most vulnerable. FD could capitalize.

To be honest, it felt like WC was completely shocked by South's performance. They just didn't know what to do. I believe they are much more talented than what the scoreboard said. They just weren't ready for what the Spartans brought. It's almost like they never watched any film on the Spartans.

Can anyone compare the O-line of FD to WC's? Just wondering what we will be up against next week.

We are small, undersized, and not physical at all. At least that's what I gathered from the Boyle Co posts on here.   Wofo line averages much bigger in size than us.

Considering we don't currently have anyone getting D1, or D2 consideration, the O Line keeps Samuel's uniform pretty clean.

Just watched the game online. WC’s DC and DB’s coach not on the same page. SW receivers wide butt open all night.

WC was a paper tiger. They did however have a good smoke show before they got it handed to them.
