Perception IS reality, I guess. I did not know anything about this story, yesterday, when a person at work asked me if I knew where Hazard, Ky was. 

I said, "Yes. Southeastern Kentucky."

She asked, "Where you're from?"

I responded, "Not exactly, but in that general area."

She said, "That explains it." 

?

So tweets from 20 years ago can get someone fired as a CEO, but this is OK because they've been doing it for years?   That makes zero sense in this or any alternate dimension. 

 

Are there any Hazard people on here that can speak to the logic of those in that area defending this complete and utter trainwreck nonsense? 

 

3 Hazard, Kentucky school officials reprimanded for 'man pageant'

So from the sound of things, the end-all-be-all for this was a written reprimand from the school district and required training that the principal and the two other faculty/staffers who all participated in the event will have to attend.

Anyone else feel like that's a slap on the wrist, at best?

Oh boy a written reprimand.  Maybe it was delivered in a very serious tone, that will show them!

I wouldn't be sending my kid to school there, that's for sure. 

A written reprimand is a joke, and maybe whoever made that decision needs to be gone as well.

Bingo.

The sad thing about all of this is that if THIS is swept under the rug and dismissed as "it's what we do", can you imagine what else goes on?

Disappointed in a lot of adults in that system that should know better. 

The Hazard Herald reported yesterday that Hazard Independent Schools superintendent Sondra Combs signed and agreement with the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board to surrender her educator certifications at the end of this school year and she will not be able to reapply for them at a later date.

The state's Education Professional Standards Board found after investigation the "man pageant" incident, that "Combs failed to supervise subordinates, failed to stop assembly and concealed facts."

Combs maintains that she is being made an example of by the Education Professional Standards Board.
