Trinity is coming of back to back state championships and will host Indiana power Carmel (IN).

Carmel only returns 5 starters so they are almost as inexperienced as Trinity who returns 2 starters. Carmel like Trinity can reload and are ranked 3rd in preseason by Maxpreps and will contend for the championship in Indiana in the highest class of 6A. Carmel has two top players that will lead them in QB Zach Osborne and Safety Soloman Williams. Osborne is rated by 247 sports as the 50th best player in Indiana and Williams is rated the 48th best player by 247 sports.

Trinity's offense will be led by QB Brady Willis who was a key player in the outfield for the Shamrocks championship baseball team. They will also have the fastest running back in state with Armon Tucker who has had 36 tds and over 2,000 yds the last two years. The key to the offense will be the offensive line since replacing 4 starters from last year.

Trinity's defense doesn't return any starters with LB Cole Wickliffe the leading returning tackler with 11. DE William Zabel looks to step up after being a back up last year. The defense played well in the scrimmage against Ohio power Springfield holding them to 17 points. This unit should improve through the season as they get more experience.

It's hard to evaluate this game with both teams replacing so many starters from last year but who do you think wins?

I like Trinity at home to open the season. Tucker is going to have to carry the offense the first few games until the line can gel.

Having former D coordinator Jay Cobb at the helm makes me think the defense will still be ok, which will be good news for the O, as I don't think they'll light up the scoreboard much this year.

I'm thinking Trinity by a couple of scores but not a pretty game. Rocks 28-14.

I think this will be close game and turnovers could be a key or maybe even kicking game.

Likewise. If you'd like to meet, let me know.

Going to be tough for Trinity early on. They are young and have some injuries on offense.

The defense is going to be a lot better than most expect. Some of those sophomores are really, really good players. My guess is they'll start five or six sophomores on defense.

Trinity 17, Carmel 14

I was thinking the same score prediction, but hopeful for just a little more. Margin of victory won't change the size of the "W"!

Carmel 20-17. Nothing against Trinity but this is a hard team to open with replacing so much.

Here is hudl highlights of Carmel QB Zach Osborne from Junior year. On his recruiting profile on 247 sports, he has offers from 3 Ivy League schools. I noticed in highlights for being 6'2 205 he's pretty mobile.

Since Trinity is the second best team in their district according to their district coaches poll, I’ve gotta go with Carmel… jk jk.

I’ll go with the Rocks 21-17.

I'm sure T's future opponents just love hearing that. ?
