I thought I was tough until....

Well I turned 40 a few weeks ago. I think my body is starting to fall apart. I consider myself a relatively tough individual but the last three years I have had plantar fasciitis and this thing called "Tennis Elbow." I'm 6'5, 265 lbs, I run, lift weights, play basketball, and lead a relatively active life. These two ailments make me curl up and squeal.

Have any of you had plantar fasciitis or tennis elbow? Nothing to do but try to stretch it out and wear a brace. Then you just have to wait for it to go away.

I developed plantar fasciitis a couple of years ago.  Stretching helps some but the main thing was finding  the right orthidic for my shoe.  I also wear a compression sleeve over my foot if I'm going to be hiking or active in some way.  You are correct, stepping wrong on an uneven surface and I can drop like I was shot.  Horrible pain.

I had it when I was in the police academy as well as shin splints. It was pretty rough. I had to talk to my PT guys a couple of days and tell them I was going to have a bad day in there.  I've also had 5 knee surgeries so I've learned over time that if my knees aren't killing me, something else is probably making up for it and I will find out later.

About 7 or 8 years ago, it had me to the point I didn't want to get out of bed. I hated to walk anywhere.

As luck would have it, in the Nashville mall, I get stopped by one of the vendors that I really didn't want to talk to.

They had some essential oil that they claimed would help with just about anything. Of course, I was very skeptical. They asked what was hurting if anything, and I told them I'd definitely buy it if it did anything for the plantar fasciitis.

I was shocked. It worked and I still use it to this day for all kinds of different ailments. Now it didn't completely go away overnight, but it allowed me to have less and less pain during the next months to where I could tolerate it. It's still there, although very slight and manageable now. Some days I don't notice it at all.

You need to get the Dr. Schools inserts.  You can find them at Walmart for about $15.00.  Another good thing to get is get a golf ball and put it on the floor while you are seated in a chair like at a desk.  Roll the ball around the bottom of your foot for 5 to 10 minutes.  This really helped me a lot.

I've had tennis elbow, got a cortisone shot because it was pretty severe and just wouldn't go away no matter what I did. The shot took care of it.

Have had a small bout of plantar fasciitis, just stretched and used a frozen orange juice container to roll my foot on, got better.

The absolute worst I've dealt with is gout. A severe attack, and I've had several of severe attacks, is just awful. Just a sheet touching your foot can send you through the roof. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
