December 21, 200619 yr I know this is a stretch early, but his numbers are already unbelievable...add that to what postion he plays, which team he plays for, and exposure...does he have a chance? I say he can win if he averages above 18 ppg, and keep doing what he has been in regards to the other statistics....if Duke ends up around 24-7 or so, he wil be tough to overlook, I think his biggest competition is Oden.
December 21, 200619 yr Hes only averaging 11 points a game. The only thing on the stat sheet that is really impressive with him is over 4 assists and 2.5 blocks. Have you seen Tucker from Wisconsin play? Or Thornton from Fla St. Id put Hansborough above McRoberts as well. Then there is Fazekas and Noah. Aaron Gray has had a great year. Then there is this guy named Randolph Morris. I think all those guys without doing any research are more deserving than McRoberts!
December 21, 200619 yr NO. He came into Duke ranked as the #2 player in his class (Rivals). I don't think that he has played at the level yet. I would think that several players would have a better resume for player of the year than he does at this point.
December 21, 200619 yr McRoberts may be the 5th best center in the country. Not enough to make POY. Will be interesting to see the Duke/NC Hansbrough/McRoberts matchups.
December 21, 200619 yr He handles the ball well, for a big man. Shoots the mid-range jumper and dribble penetrates, when bringing the ball up the floor. A lot of very good qualities.....but No, not the national player of the year. If Duke makes a serious run, possibly Final Four and other top players exit early, then he will get discussed.
December 21, 200619 yr If McRoberts dominates POY candidate Tyler Hansbrough in their 2 regualr season matchups then he has a legit shot.
