mcpapa
Final four has a distinct western flavor this time around. Baylor, Houston, Gonzaga and UCLA.

bugatti
Impressive. College basketball has been dominated by teams east of the Mississipi for pretty much its entire existence, aside from the UCLA run in the 60s/70s. In the last 30 years, only Kansas ('08, I guess you would say they are "west"), Arizona ('98), and UCLA ('94) have won titles from what I would call the "western" part of the country. TheDeuce
How low will the ratings be? Or do we think they will be good since we didn't have a Final Four last year?

Gonzaga going for an undefeated season might play a factor in favor of good ratings.

Will be interesting to see. The Sweet 16 round was up, but I have a feeling the Elite 8 ratings were down because of when they were scheduled. You do have some big market teams involved (sans Gonzaga), so that should help.

Tomcats1990
Zags look unstoppable. Is there an asterisk by Gonzaga if they finish off a perfect season? Baylor and Gonzaga personally would be a great National Title game.

They still had to win the tournament and there wasn’t any team in their path (thus far) that had to step down due to COVID. Plus, they’d be 32-0, which would equal the most wins by an unbeaten team in NCAA history.

Just wondering if not playing a normal 40 game season means an asterisk gets added.

I get what you’re saying, but the point remains they’d have won as many games as any other team that has ever gone undefeated and would have won more games in the actual tournament than any undefeated team ever. A few extra regular season games won’t matter that much. I’m sure there’s no asterisk if it happens.

It sucked they lost, but it was not a shock. Gonzaga losing to UCLA on Saturday would be a choke job and shocking. 2) I don't think an asterisk is fair, but I believe there will be, and should be, a historical footnote about this season. It was strange, schedules were unbalanced, games were played in bubbles, and it really benefited experienced teams. Gonzaga has risen to the occasion throughout, so no hate here as they were playing by the same rules.
The Raven
11 championships between the 4 schools: #1 seed Gonzaga - 0 #2 seed Houston - 0 #1 seed Baylor - 0 #11 seed UCLA - 11 I don't see UCLA adding #12, but I wouldn't put it past them.
