I heard today that well over 80% of players have opted into the game. Arch Manning is a notable player that has chosen not to opt in.

I read that as well.  Quote I read, said he wanted to focus on playing football on the field.  If that's true, that's dumb as hell in my opinion.  He was getting trolled on X (twitter) pretty hard yesterday, rightfully so.

Agreed, if he opts in is no news at all. Staying out makes it news and brings more attention to him.

 

 

The Athletic posted a few features yesterday.  From what I remember:

-NIL won't be in the game because it's constantly changing.  However, there will be a "media exposure" part of recruiting to pitch to players that's supposed to sort of reflect that.  No big deal for me there.

-You won't be able to export draft classes to Madden.  This is because of concerns about players naming rights if they were to appear in an NFL video game and how the NFLPA is not licensed with this title so EA wants to avoid any litigation there.  That's a bummer and will probably hurt EA's Madden sales more than anything as I could see lots of people buying this NCAA title and then discarding Madden this cycle, especially if you can't keep stuff going.  However, if you do the "Road to Glory" mode you can export your created player to Madden to do the Superstar mode or whatever there.

-No FCS schools included, but you will have some generic FCS teams like FCS West, FCS South, etc. to play for cupcake games if you wish in dynasty.

-In dynasty, you will be able to customize conferences to up to 20 teams.  PAC-2 will also be in there for people that want to revive it.

-Real schedules are built into the game that go out to like 2030 or something.  Can still customize but you can't schedule a neutral site game.

There were other features for recruiting and such that were also appealing that I can't remember.  But for me this all comes down to gameplay.  With how bad Madden has been over the last few years, I'm not confident in EA to deliver on this title.  So we'll see.

It's supposed to have a completely different game engine, so hopefully the game play will be different/better.

This is EAs biggest release in several years. I'm hoping they knock it out of the park and didn’t leave anything out to save for next year.

The one positive is that this game has been in development since like 2021.  It's also exclusively a next-gen title whereas a lot of sports games are straddling PS4/PS5 and other old gen/new gen systems.  I would not be surprised if this game is far better than any other sports title on the market because of that factor.  It may also prompt other sports developers to step up their game and get games exclusively for next gen.

I'm not doing deluxe or anything because I anticipate the servers are going to crash when this game goes live for early release.  That may not happen but you have to figure there are going to be millions of people trying to login/use this game at one time.

I finally get to see what all the fuss is about. Santa dropped off a PS5 this morning. 

Top selling game. Just wish you could edit rosters.
