Covington Catholic and Trinity have scheduled a game for this Friday, January 22nd after Trinity's game against Madison Central was cancelled due to COVID protocols.

Just announced tonight in the broadcast of Cov Cath's game against Indian Hill (OH).

Should be a good one!

Trinity will play hard after loss to St.X, but I think Covington Catholic gets the win.

Both teams have played DeSales. Going by those scores, this should be another close game.

Game time is 7:00pm. That's varsity start. Not sure if this one includes JV or not.

I understand the JV are heading down as well with a 5:30 start.

CCH is young and still developing at this point of the season. Could easily be a win by Trinity.

I predict Trinity keeps it close but CovCath pulls out a win.  Not a ton of size on Trinity's roster. Trinity has developed a tendency to get behind in games then storm back late.  

I think CovCath gets the win.

That will be problematic for the Rocks, without question.  Trinity will need to force a LOT of turnovers (which I know they are perfectly capable of doing) to offset CovCath's paint-ball, offensive rebounding, and 2nd chance points.  I suppose Trinity could also offset those factors with red-hot shooting from beyond the arc, but I'm not sure that is as much their game as turning you over for transition baskets.

I'm not 100% sure what Trinity's game is at this point.   I'm sure  Coach Szabo does not think it is a good idea to fall behind as much as they do and then try to rally late.

The game in 1960-61 was the first time they played each other. I'm missing some seasons in there, because for some dumb reason, folks didn't think it was worth mentioning game results (or even team records) in a bunch of yearbooks. That, or they decided to only put the district playing schedule in the yearbook. Seasons missing: 1977-78, 1980-81, 1981-82, 1983-84, 1984-85, 1985-86.

So as close as I can get, for now...the series record is at 6-4 in Cov Cath's favor.

I don't think they played each other in the 80's. Could be wrong but I don't think so.

Looks like both JV teams are undefeated. Something will have to give in that one. Should make for a nice doubleheader in St. Matthews.
