You would not believe the policy Ashland has I'm dealing with them with my middle school girls basketball tournament they are hosting beginning tomorrow.

Here below is the actual policy.

"When the COVID -19 Color Coded Incidence Map comes out on Thursday, it will determine our participation in athletics.  If BOYD COUNTY is red, this means that our athletic teams will not be permitted to practice or play from Monday-Sunday of the following week.  If there is an opponent located in a county, that we are supposed to participate against that is Red, we will not participate in the event against them at home or away.  No event hosted in an Ashland Independent facility between teams that where one or more teams are in the red will be permitted between Monday-Sunday as well.”    

So basically if a county turns red yesterday they could still play Ashland on Thursday-Sunday, but not Sunday-Saturday the next week even if they drop back to orange or yellow on Sunday and vice versa. I have Louisa vs Fleming and Louisa was red on Thursday, Oct. 15 and turned back orange on Tuesday, Oct. 20 but are not allowed to play at Ashland on this Sunday, Oct. 25 even though they have been out of the red for 5 days. On the opposite side Fleming has been red since Sunday Oct. 18 but because they were not red on Oct. 15 they could still play at Ashland this Sunday having the 2nd highest red number in the state. It gets better they could play at Ashland this Sunday while in the red and if they win and were scheduled to play in the semis on Monday or Tuesday the 26, 27th they would not be allowed to play at Ashland even if they dropped out of the red.

You are probably more confused but have been working on solutions for 3 days now so teams would not have to miss the tournament. Plus they are playing at a county tomorrow for a regular season non-district game that is in the red currently but I guess was not on Oct. 15.

Ashland @ Bell Co 2pm kickoff. Didn’t see this one coming with Greenup not cancelling until Thursday evening. Should be a good game not sure Ashland can get the win, always seems we get snake bit playing there. 

Won’t be an easy game at all. Hopefully it’s streaming on something today so we can watch. Also hearing Ashland trying to get a game worked out next week with Pikeville.

Having seen both teams this year, Ashland should win by a couple scores. But Bell is solid and winning there is always tough.
