I saw where a protest is being organized at the superintendent’s office.

They’ve really hurt their athletes and football especially. I don’t think any transfers will be approved because technically they offer the sport they are just postponing them. With football some of these players will still need their acclimation time to finish. Between unenrolling in Lloyd and enrolling somewhere else and KHSAA paperwork it could be Early to mid October before some of these players even see game time. 

Until school’s record-open in person, all programs are at risk. And with the daily 4:00 fear sessions still in play, I have to think Lloyd will not be the only program impacted as Superintendents execute the good ole “cya” directives.  Very sad......

 If they want to get this reconsidered,  they need to be reaching out to the school board. 

There was a protest in front of the EESD District building today.

 

Was the final decision to delay the season or cancel completely? KHSAA now shows the first game as October 9.

I think their superintendent is stopping their athletes from playing in sports games until students are back in school. The games on their schedule start with their district games. Lloyd's coach is hoping school will be opened and the superintendent will let those games be played.

Is Lloyd the only school in the state not playing any sports this week?

Are JCPS schools playing anything this week? I was thinking they pushed everything back to next week.

They can scrimmage other JCPS teams this week.

Newport is still up in the air. Their superintendent waited until last Friday to have a special meeting with the BOE about fall sports, and at the meeting he said he would make his announcement on Monday. Monday is Labor Day...so, shocker, no word yet today. Game day is only 4 days away, but they're still waiting to hear.

There are 171 school districts in Kentucky. As of now, there is one school district that is not allowing their teams to play sports against other schools. If you were that one superintendent, wouldn't that give you pause to reconsider your decision? If it doesn't, what does that say about the superintendent?

He’d likely say he is the superintendent of one school district, not all school districts. He has to do what he thinks is right for his district. Superintendents make those decisions daily, it just so happens that this one is in a much more public eye. If the constituents aren’t happy, and the board of education isn’t happy, then his tenure will likely be short. I’m sure he knows this, which actually gives a little more credence to his decision.

He could end up looking like the smartest guy in the room if there end up being problems.  Or gets he gets labeled as being too cautious, and his decision could cost him his job. It takes guts to stand out on that branch alone. My guess is there are many others who wanted to make that same decision, but opted to to bow to the pressure.

I would ask him what facts and data did he base his decision on. What does he apparently know that 170 other superintendents don't? Please share this secret for the good of everyone.

Well, Bellevue officially gave the go-ahead for fall sports last week. Newport Independent's supt. officially gave his approval for fall sports today. Covington Independent's superintendent had spoken to the KHSAA's Board of Control about how "several superintendents up this way will probably meet with their boards about not participating"...but Holmes is going ahead and playing. It sounds like Chad Molley is the lone wolf out there who actually went ahead and cancelled fall sports. And he's not just the lone wolf in northern Kentucky, he's the lone wolf in the state.

Wonder if Supt. Molley is feeling kind of lonely right now.
