9th Region Week 9 Rankings: Minor changes

Featured Replies

Trust me, I'm not a fan of either one. I'm not ranking them on their records, NCC is about at full staff, I just believe at this point of the season they are the 2 and 3 best teams in the region.

I see these rankings being based on what teams have accomplished, not on potential. It is subjective and difficult enough ranking teams based on their actual results. If the rankings are about guessing how good a team might be, that makes things too subjective.

I think we all know that NCC is better than their won/lost record, but it is what it is.

That is exactly my thinking: what they have done, not what they could have done, or what people project that they can do.

St. Henry beat Conner 52-47

St. Henry beat Lex Cath 70-59

St. Henry beat NCC 57-55 and Beechwood 49-46 en route to an All A state title.

Why is St. Henry not No. 2? And why is there debate about who should be there? As far as resume goes, the Crusaders deserve the No. 2 spot.

Oh well, we’ll see how they finish the season with a decent schedule.

Ok, Lex Cath beat Cov Cath, St. Hank beat Lex Cath, why not put St. Hank #1?

St. Henry lost to CovCath, as did Highlands, Conner, NCC, and Holy Cross.

At this point in the season Cov Cath seems to be head and shoulders above anyone in the 9th. The number two spot seems to be up for grabs though.

Because St. Henry lost to Cov Cath. I have no problem with CCH being the definitive No. 1, they deserve it. But seriously, I’m struggling to see where someone can rank St. Henry lower than teams they have beaten AND are coming off an All A title.

Darn, why didn't I think of that. LOL

Hah. I could honestly see an entire handful of teams that could end up #2 as things play out. All in all it seems like the 9th is a bit down this year.

CCH kind of makes it look that way, which appears to be the trend of the future. Over all the balance is about the same as years past, some of the better teams of the past are down and some of the lesser teams of the past has stepped it up a notch this year.

To me at this point in the season, St. Henry, Highlands, NCC, Connor, and Beechwood seem to be rather evenly matched.

Sure, a case could be made for this team over that team, but I believe that on any given night anyone of these teams could beat the other, and maybe even at a 50/50 rate all around.

As some have said that it's a down year for the 9th, I ain't buying it. With these first 5 teams that I've mentioned there's some incredible talent all around. Sure CovCath is in another prep school league of their own, but aside from them, it's another exciting year in the 9th with lots of talented teams.

Same thing regarding being evenly matched could be said about Holy Cross, Holmes, Lloyd, Cooper, Newport, Ryle, and maybe even Dixie with their horrible w/l record.

There's also some decent talent that can be found with that bunch.

Boone hangs there alone in being lesser than the aforementioned teams, and better than the rest of the pack.

Then you have Ludlow and Villa pretty close.

Then Dayton

Then Bellevue and Heritage

Then there’s Covington Latin unsurprisingly sitting there in the far corner of the basement all by themselves.

St. Henry is 3-0 against these teams, and will play Highlands at home on February 19th .
