BluegrassPreps Boys Basketball Top 20 Week 7 Discussion

Featured Replies

I've seen them against Trinity and Mason County. There are just too many teams under them that they would beat.

Of their 20 wins this season you just happened to see them play their worst 2 games. They had a cold shooting night vs Trinity until toward the end of the game and I didn’t see the Mason game but listened to it on radio and it definitely was not Ashland at their best.

Don’t underestimate these boys. They’re better than you’re giving them credit 4Quarters. You probably didn’t think they’d beat Owensboro in the first round of the Sweet 16 last year (neither did I by the way, lol) but they did.

Their main weak point is lack of a big man but they have still managed a 20-0 record up to this point and have played a very demanding schedule.

I would remove South Larel, Seneca, and North Laurel and go with Butler, Warren Central and PRP instead.

Definitely Butler.

Warren Central just got blasted by John Hardin. I didn't expect them to win but it wasn't even close.

Between the blowout loss to John Hardin and a less bad but still blowout loss to Bowling Green, I believe Warren Central has seen its last ranked day unless it goes on a real tear. And that’s fine - they don’t have to be ranked to reach their goals, but they’ve got two losses to unranked teams, those blowouts, and not any truly marquee wins.

Basketball hard to rank. Seems more parity in basketball than football plus going 20 teams deep.

I’m waiting for McCracken to crack the Kentucky AP top 10. They will likely have to go undefeated through the 1st Region tournament to do that.

The BGP poll is far more accurate, with far more statewide representation, than the AP, I'd enjoy your #8 ranking here and not waste a second of thought over whatever dredge the AP puts out.

You can’t look at the AP. Some of those voters should not be able to vote with what they turn in.

Thanks sweet16 and Doubledeuce for your insight!

McCracken and Collins play in early February. Should be a good game.
