Highlands I truly don't know how you can put Ashland in the 6th spot. I realize they have not lost, I have seen them play twice, just no way #6, maybe at the bottom of the top 20. I really believe there are 12 or 13 teams under them that they can not beat.

True blue (and gold) Posted January 20, 2020 Author Posted January 20, 2020 Your title says Director, LOL. Anyway pass the word. The director doesn’t vote. No need to pass along your opinion. Our team gets information from many places, including reading everything that BGP has to offer.

They're not even ranked in the top 5 and you're still complaining. An undefeated record should never be overlooked, even if their schedule was somewhat easy. And even at that, they've played a number of decent teams; Butler, George Rogers Clark, Warren Central, George Washington, etc.

Which two games have you seen them play? If you look up MyTownTV and scroll through some of their archived games you will get a better sample size to judge them from. It's hard to knock a team that has played a decent schedule and hasn't lost a game, just based off from seeing them in a couple of close games. There is no doubt in my mind that they are a top 10 team unless they have an off night. When they're playing well they're are in the top 5-6 range, imo. That said, they're still a couple of years away from this particular group of Tomcats peaking and I've been telling anyone that will listen that they're going to have problems against teams that have a good big man. Which they have, but they still haven't lost any of those games. Which is also surprising to me, they were due for a loss a while back, that just happens when you rely so heavily on your shooting ability. They're coached really well though and with the exception of the Mason county game where they were missing layups (this team typically doesn't do that) they have came out strong in the third quarter after making defensive adjustments at halftime.

I feel like the BGP committee has them about right until someone beats them.

What I said was they're ranked way to high.

I've seen them against Trinity and Mason County. There are just too many teams under them that they would beat.

JDEaston Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 I've seen them against Trinity and Mason County. There are just too many teams under them that they would beat. I didnt get to see the Mason County game so I won't speak too much on that one but Mason County was the worst game Ashland has played all season, statistically. Mason has been playing better recently but they still aren't the best team Ashland has played this season by a long shot, yet if just looking at the score and how Ashland played in that one game then they must be the best team Ashland has played all season. I know you know better than that though. As far as Trinity goes they have had a knack all season for making good teams not look so good while keeping the game close. Trinity has just struggled to win those games.
JDEaston Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Well heck, just rank teams by their records. What I said was they're ranked way to high. Rankings are hard to get right in high school basketball. Most teams could lose to someone ranked below them on any given night. Just like when Ashland played George Washington earlier this season. A game most, including myself would have expected Ashland to lose. Yet Ashland goes to Charleston and beats them by 13 on their home floor. Ashland adjusted their press and half court defense after the half and in turn opened up their offense. Eventually pulling away to get the win.
PurplePride92 Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 At this point a large majority of teams have shown their flaws and lost games most people think they shouldn’t have lost. Good luck to anyone trying to determine where to rank them.
PurplePride92 Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Elizabethtown beats John Hardin. GRC beats Bourbon County.
