Just pondering some possibilities here, but if Cov Cath could approach DeSales and CAL about moving their Oct 9 game to the Sep 11 slot, that would enable either team to add a game against Cov Cath. Just kind of "thinking out loud" and shuffling some puzzle pieces around.

There's also the potential for a re-match of the 2018 3A State Championship.

I'm about 100% positive, if it hasn't been announced yet, that Christian Academy already has another opponent for 9/11.

For what it's worth, @Unrivaled97, I was referring to South Warren and Cov Cath both having October 9th open at current. There's potential right now for an October 9th rematch of the 2018 5A State Championship or of the 2019 5A State Championship right now: Teams With Open Football Dates.

I apologize, I actually meant to reference your quote about DeSales & CAL possibly moving their game to 9/11 to open up the 10/9 date.  I believe CAL has already scheduled another game for 9/11 now since they cancelled the Ballard game.

Cov Cath also recently added Clermont Northeastern senior transfer Skyler Schmidt (DE/TE) to their roster. Schmidt is assumedly going to play D1 basketball in college since he has an offer from New Orleans University and is being heavily recruited by WVU and Purdue, but he also holds a D1 football offer from Central Michigan University.

At DE, Skyler was #1 in the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference in 2019 for interceptions (5), #3 for sacks (10), and tied for #5 in fumble recoveries (2). At TE he was the #2 receiver last season for the more rushing-dependent Rockets with 274yds and 7 TDs on 15 receptions.

At 6'8", he makes a great target for Caleb Jacob and a formidable weapon on the Colonels defense.

Any word on the open date for October 9th or is Cov Cath only playing 8 games. I love to see them play Frederick Douglass that week.

I've not heard any rumors - although Coach Eviston and AD Bacigalupo tend to like to keep things pretty private until they make their official announcements.

Looking at the list we've got of Teams With Open Football Dates (which has been a wildly moving target to try to keep up-to-date), it looks like Christian County, Douglass, and South Warren all have open dates on October 9th. I would assume that no teams are looking to travel that much at this point, though.

Got my copy of the Diocesan spectator attendance policy.

 

 Spectators will be limited to two family members per athlete. This number could be reduced depending on the facility capacity.
 Ticket purchases must be made in advance to eliminate cash exchanges at the entrance.
 Spectators must be seated at least 6 feet apart or greater from other spectators who are not in the family unit.
 Spectators should complete a temperature screening/health check prior to attending the game. An additional screening may be required to be admitted.
 Spectators must avoid congregating at the entrance/exits and in the parking lots. If the attendee is waiting in line, 6 feet spacing must be between guests.
 Student ticket sales are not permitted at this time.
 There will be no student section at the games.

Schools are encouraged to find alternative ways to broadcast games for those unable to attend in-person.

I like what seems to be the current non-district scheduling philosophy. Opening with Ryle, one GCL South team a year, Beechwood, and LexCath. The first three are good gates and LexCath has turned into a good series.

If I'm getting nit picky, I wouldn't mind see Louisville X and/or East Central out of Indiana rotate onto the schedule at some point.

If CCH likes to schedule a Lexington school each year then I would like to see them play FD or Scott Co each year instead of the Lex Cath or Henry Clay. Stay in the 5A and it helps the RPI big time if you win these games.
