Kentucky Country Day is the other undefeated team in Class 1A at 13-0. They defeated Crittenden County last week 36-22 to advance to more than likely its first ever State Semifinal. Kentucky Country Day also holds the the highest RPI in Class 1A as well. The Bearcats offense comes in averaging over 42 points per game. The defense isn’t to shabby neither only giving up 14 points per game.

The Paintsville Tigers come into this matchup at 10-3 on the season. The Tigers just survived its 3rd round matchup with Williamsburg 36-34. Paintsville makes it back to the state semifinals after a 2 year drought. The Tigers hope to breakthrough and make it to the state championship game. They have been upset/beaten 2 times in the matchup after being the favorite to advance each of of those matchups. The Tigers are averaging close to 32 points per game. They also have had a strong defense as well. The defense is only giving up just over 16 points per game.

Who wins this matchup? Does Kentucky Country Day make its first ever State Championship? Or Does Paintsville finally get there State Semifinal monkey off there back?

Interesting matchup. This one is going to take some deeper thinking to guess what might happen. It should be a good game and that is going to be a long drive for Paintsville. Too close to call right now without more thinking. We will take a deeper dive in this weeks' 1A Notebook.

KCD has been successful because of their ability to be more physical than the teams they have played thus far. This will be the one game I think they will have someone able to match them. Both teams will be running the football and playing good defense.

On side note Class A semi finals is a big example how the KHSAA has it wrong when it comes to playoffs. Two teams will pass each other driving over 200 miles to play a game on Friday. If the KHSAA would left things alone Both teams would of had a 20-30 minute drive.

Paintsville’s defensive strength is run defense in my opinion. That’s going to get tested against KCD. KCD runs the single wing offense and wants to get numbers on the edge. I think it is safe to say that Paintsville is the best team KCD has seen thus far, but I don’t think anyone really knows how good KCD is due to their schedule. We will find out Friday.

Welcome to BGP @TigersofPaintsville

Will be interesting to see where this game is played. Hearing rumors may be moving to turf.

KCD has an outstanding grass surface.

It appeared to be rather sloppy in the last game against Crittenden County. I am all for moving the game to turf. Papa Johns would be just fine! I would say Cardinal Stadium but that turf is basically a thin rug over concrete.

I was disappointed at the "hog lot" on the visitors side the team had to stand in while the home side was nice and dry with tarps on it. I'm sure Paintsville will love it!

Any indication of where it may be played? I am not familiar with Louisville schools in terms of which ones have turf.

I admit haven't seen KCD field this season. But knowing how well it is taken care of surprises me.

On side note Cardinal stadium is not an option. It is no longer standing.

To add more confusion, Papa John's is now known merely as Cardinal Stadium.

Not after Friday’s game. I would think CAL would be an option. It is probably the closest turf field to KCD.

Haha! I’ll just follow the bus, hopefully they know where to go!

Good luck and welcome to Louisville.
