2. Russell (Really thought they would win the Final, but Mercer Co's defense was too much.)

 

3. Belfry (Tough on both sides of the ball)

 

4. Middlesboro (Offense as good as anyone)

 

5. Corbin (Turned season around)

Next year let's put Trinity in 2a to give the legit 2a schools someone else to shoot at ... Devils almost did it and really gave it away , to the 5a power .. who next year will have to buy a ticket to get into the finals or semi finals .. we will be watching and posting ...

1) Mercer 15-12 final score

4)Owensboro-QB down really hurt chances for a better showing in Semi's

5)Newport-best team Mercer played, besides Russell

1. Mercer - Fair or unfair, they still had to win the games for the title and they did.

 

2. Russell - Very tough squad. If anybody had a chance at Mercer, it was these guys!!!

 

3. Belfry - Well-coached, disciplined, physical team. Beat the 1A champs early in the year! Just didn't have enough to beat the top 2 here.

 

4. Owensboro Catholic - Very limited without QB vs. Mercer. Deserving of this spot with a healthy QB. Always in contention during late November.

 

5. Newport - 4 losses, two to Mercer, one to NewCath. Played great Defense all year!

Mercer Co - Best talent and won it all.

Russell - Only team to give Mercer a game and beat #3.

Belfry - Very solid but was a little young to get over the hump.

Middlesboro - offensive juggernaut. If they only had a defense.

Caldwell Co. - Won 10 in a row, lost heartbreaker to Trigg w/o star player.

Oboro Cath - Made final 4 and played strong schedule, so, record deceiving.

Corbin - Better than record indicated. Peaked at the right time of year.

Western - A top team all year that got upset early in playoffs but talented.

Trigg Co.- Strong team overall that played well late in season.

Ft Campbell - After Caldwell loss, went on a roll before close loss to Trigg.
