October 15, 20196 yr I can't decide. I've went back and forth all day. The only one that I've not considered getting rid of is bacon, it will always make the cut. Biscuits and gravy made by my wife, mom or mother-in-law are incredible. I've never had it at a restaurant that was anything more than serviceable. Eggs, over easy with a biscuit or toast are hard to beat. Scrambled egg sandwiches may be one of my favorite comfort foods ever. Pancakes, what can I say...I love them! A little butter and a little syrup and I'm good to go, as long as the pancakes are hot and not pre-made fast food type. Gun to my head, I'd say Eggs today...but I'd be very sad knowing I'd never have scrambled eggs, mayo, and mustard on toast again. Edited October 15, 20196 yr by Jumper_Dad
October 16, 20196 yr Pancakes - just carbs and sugar. Something most people do not need. There’s a difference between needing something nutritionally and needing something because they make you happy.
October 16, 20196 yr Biscuits and gravy without a doubt, and I don’t even have to think about it. Even though I rarely eat pancakes anymore, I wouldn’t eat biscuits and gravy if you paid me. Heart attack on a plate. I had never heard of biscuits and gravy until I moved to this area 20+ years ago, and I don’t see how anyone can eat it. It doesn’t even look appetizing.
October 16, 20196 yr Pancakes - just carbs and sugar. Something most people do not need. And biscuits and gravy is equally carb heavy (it has biscuits which are heavier and fluffier than pancakes) plus it’s loaded with fat. I can eat one pancake without spiking my blood sugar. Biscuits and gravy would spike your blood sugar and clog your arteries. Are you really implying B&G is healthier than pancakes in moderation?

Aren’t you doing the same thing in the other direction? :lol2: One has more fat, the other has more sugar. Not sure you can make the argument that either is more healthy than the other.
October 16, 20196 yr Aren’t you doing the same thing in the other direction? :lol2: One has more fat, the other has more sugar. Not sure you can make the argument that either is more healthy than the other. Biscuits and gravy are pretty high is sugar too. Biscuits are a form of bread, which is made of flour and sugar. Pancakes by themselves aren't terribly unhealthy, and when doing a quick search, two pancakes beat two biscuits with gravy nutritionally in all categories, except protein. What takes pancakes off the rails is loading them with butter and syrup. But you can switch things up to make pancakes healthier--using whole wheat flour, adding protein powder, and using fresh fruit as a topping, can turn pancakes into a really good and healthy meal. I'll admit though, most people don't, and will not ever eat pancakes that way.

You can also make biscuits healthier by using almond flour and such. At the end of the day, neither is healthy in their traditional form, I think everyone can agree on that.

But I'd happily eat pancakes if there were no other choice. I'd never choose biscuits and gravy.

B&G can be pretty hit and miss. But man, if you ever get a good biscuit AND gravy combo, it's hard to beat.
October 16, 20196 yr I didn't realize there was a vocal minority so opposed to biscuits and gravy -- that is troubling. I don't even need B&G (am I doing that right?) to be top-shelf to be perfectly worth doing. Rip up the biscuits into bite size pieces and then pour the gravy over them...yum!!! That, plus the undebatable take of Waffles > Pancakes, and this thread should be a run-away. *looks up at the poll* Oh...it is...faith in humanity restored.
October 16, 20196 yr Don't get me wrong. I like B&G. It's just that I like flapjacks more. They are easier to prepare than both B&G and waffles. If I'm eating out, I prefer waffles over pancakes.
October 16, 20196 yr B&G can be pretty hit and miss. But man, if you ever get a good biscuit AND gravy combo, it's hard to beat. This exactly! Nearly all restaurants make horrible gravy, if that's all anyone has tried I'd understand not liking B&G. However if you have ever had really good biscuits and gravy, well it's just about the best thing you can eat. I feel sorry for those that have never had good homemade gravy. I prefer mine made from porkchop or tenderloin droppings over sausage type that most prefer. Edited October 16, 20196 yr by Jumper_Dad
