Murray the best from NKY since Shaun? Are you serious? How about Jared Lorenzen, Gino, Derek Smith, Brett Hamblen, Brent Grover, Ben Scott, Kunhein, Rob Smith? Those are only the ones from Highlands that have been better than Murray.

 

Artie Steinmetz from CovCath was better than Murray, as was Mike Donoghue.

 

O'Toole from Dixie was better.

 

There are others that are as well.

 

Vince Murray is a GREAT HS football player, one who can play on the next level for a Div. 1A team. Don't discredit him by overhyping the way you are.

When you break past the LB's and outrun the DB's 40, 50, 60 yards consistanty, that's quick enough to get the job done.

But I disagree with Murray being unfairly compared. It was stated that Murray was the best High School player to come out of NKY since SA in '94. Examples of high school players from a couple schools were given. Based on high school careers, some(or all) had as good or better careers than young Murray. I don't think it takes anything away from what the young man has done. I think he'd be honored to be in the company of those players. They've gone on to college and played at the next level. I'm sure that's what young Mr. Murray has in mind for his next step.

You've obviously never seen him. He does things I've NEVER seen a football player do on any level. I've seen him hurdle the LOS several times. Then he landed and cut. After another hurdle he cut then stiff armed a LB to his back. Granted it wasn't Trinity and I respect that, but Murray is a D1 football player if I've ever seen one.

On those runs it did appear that way. Honestly he's done some things that amazed me and things I've never seen before.

The combo of Murray and Gray is the best backfield since 94. In 94 there were 2 backfields who were as good and I'd put them on the level of Campbell County that year and a step behind Boone of that year. Murray is not Alexander and neither is Gray.

 

I'd say he's on Justin Frisk's level (though different style) and not Alexanders.

 

 

James Brown and Miles Davis from Boone Co were at least as good as Grey and Murray. The trio of Menetry, Sawyer, and Curley for Beechwood were better. Holy Cross had two backs who were dynamite but they didn't have the supporting cast around them. I believe Highlands had three RBs who all gained over 1000 yards in the regular season one year (Mueller, Gramstadt, and ?). Those are just a few that are at least as good as Ryle's RBs.

You can sure tell who has "been there" and who hasn't...
