I don't have all Beaumont's or Anderson's stats, but to compare as runningbacks, below is each of their rushing stats against common opponents: To make a viable comparison a statistical analysis needs to have a common component (in this case a common opponent) therefore, I have not listed stats when each played different repspective opposition, as those stats would not have the common component for comparison.

I can't see that Shawn Grimm's name shouldn't be considered among these even though he is just a Junior. He took his team as far as some of these guys and even further than some. Plus, take a look at his stats in the semis against what some of you guys are saying as one of the best Defenses in the state in Cov. Cath.

I did. The clock should have been stopped at around 1.1 instead of 0.6. But I wonder if the official signaled for the clock to stop. That is an important piece of the puzzle. I also wonder if the clock was started as quickly as it was stopped. I also wonder why the clock was never started at 1:51 after the penalty was marked off. The clock didn't start until the ball was snapped. Oh well, alls well that ends well.

Rock- it was an incomplete pass. No official in any game on any play that has an incomplete pass signals to stop the clock. They signal incomplete pass and the clock operator stops the clock. As to the 1:51 left and the clock didn't start, what was the result of the previous play? Was it a run inbounds then yes it should have started after the penalty but that is the referee's signal to the clock operator. I don't go thru the films ( I admire the diligence!!) so hit me back on the previous play before the penalty and what the penalty was.

Allow me to correct Vic's overall stats:

Anderson: 22 TDs rushing, 1 TD receiving, 1 TD other (KOR), 2-2pt Conv, avering 11.5ypc for the year

 

Moreover, Vic's stats were racked up when playing, unarguably, the toughest schedule in the state (playing more opponents ranked in the state's top 10 than any other team's schedule), Male's schedule was not rated as tough, nor did they play as many top rated teams. The BCS considers Strength Of Schedule in 8 of their 9 criteria when determining rankings. Further, SOS seems to be of higher importance than an "overall contributer" player, otherwise certain top "do all" players from 1A and 2A would be receiving a lot more consideration than they do currently. And, as previously stated, comparing Beaumont vs St. X, to Anderson vs Male, has no common component to compare, they each played different opponents, however, that game did prove Male to be the stronger team. (FWIT, in the quarter finals, Anderson did rush for 127 yards in 16 carries against Male, the states #1 defense.) I believe Beaumont is a well deserving candidate, as are others, I am emphasizing Anderson repeatedly had to rack up his stats against stronger competition and as SOS is of vital importance in rankings, Vic gets my support.

Ya IMO kramer is more deserving then Nick Patrino, not bashing him still a very good player. My pick is Vic Anderson I still think he is the best player in the state

 

You've got to be kidding. Let's put it this way. If you coach X and could trade Vic for Beaumont, would you? I wouldn't hesitate a moment, as (IMO) Beaumont has Vic beat on the tangibles and the intangibles.

Now, if you coach X and you could trade Vic for Petrino, would you? I would in a New York minute as Duece is a more than competent #2 guy (I would argue #1A) and Petrino would give X the missing ingredient they need to perhaps be the best team in the state.

Victor had 7 carries for 33 yards against us.

As many have stated, this is an award that goes to the player who is the best "FOOTBALL" player...and that probably encompasses a player that best portrays the qualities of a complete player, if there is such a thing. In this day an age, with so many schools having quality player that can play a single position, the Mr. Football award should probably go to the guy who is the absolute best on the field at any given time.

 

Having said that, I think that Beaumont gets the nod because of his abilities both offensively, defensively (how many interceptions and tackles did he have, I wonder. Betting it was a lot). Not to mention the fact that he is also an excellent returner. Fact remains, you have to look at the player that has the ability to take over a game and I think one could argue that both Petrino and and Beaumont had these abilities. If you dont think so, just look at the way they both lead their teams, especially in the head to head game. But this should not be an award based on one game...but their entire season. I just dont see any player who dominated a game on either side of the ball as Beaumont did. If he didnt have a great offensive game, he stood out on defense and vice versa. He is a playmaker, a leader and can win games.

I am with H on this...I totally think Redman botched the T-Male game by not giving the ball to Beaumont and let him win or lose the game. I bet many would agree that IF (and its a big if to think about what coulda, woulda, shoulda), Beaumont had gotten the ball and scored to win that game, most would say hands down that Beaumont would win the award. But alas, we will never know because of a coaching decision.

Be that as it may, having watched so many great players, I just dont think anyone has dominated the game the way Beaumont did this year (and in all other of his years). And as if he didnt do enough on offense, he was a wrecking ball on defense too.

So, with that in mind, I think the best overall "football player" is Beaumont. Dont think we are going to see too many players of his caliber, potential and game changing abilities on both sides of the ball for many years to come. This kid could beat you in so many ways (receiver, RB, def back, returner). He might not have one the state championship, but that doesnt mean he isnt the best football player in Kentucky for 2006.

Brohm did have great numbers that year but if I recall correctly Bush was the top rated athlete in the country that year and in the top 5 football recruits. He did it no both sides of the ball and could do it from a number of different positions from QB, WR, RB, LB, Safety, or just about any where else.
