Oldercoach
So, back to my question. Can a freshman transfer to follow his father's coaching change to another school and be immediately eligible?
rjs4470
So, back to my question. Can a freshman transfer to follow his father's coaching change to another school and be immediately eligible? Maybe. The one instance I’m aware of, the son was made to sit out half the season before becoming eligible when his father took a new coaching job. gold sunrise
So, back to my question. Can a freshman transfer to follow his father's coaching change to another school and be immediately eligible? Depends if he played in any varsity games last year.
Pi
Depends if he played in any varsity games last year. Started every one and led the team in scoring.
8th Region Warrior
He’s an 8th grader is my understanding. Eligibility rules don’t apply for middle school. He will be eligible to play immediately.
gold sunrise
Anyone see any summer ballgames? I don't really put much stock in them, but it does give us a look on players.
sumoroyal
I saw several Mason County games and I believe they won them all except they lost to Lexington Catholic.
mcpapa
I don’t know if this will have any impact on hoops, but Augusta schools just announced that they’re slashing tuition to $200 per student per year.

Shuttlesworth
Kason Hinson will be immediately eligible, there shouldn't be any questioning about that.

Coach AR
Even if there is a rule there has to be an exception when a parent moves jobs. Of course the child is going to school where his dad coaches. They should make an exemption in those instances. There really isn’t a lot consistency with the Khsaa on these transfers anyway. I’ve seen plenty leave and play immediately with no other reason than they wanted to be on a better team. So yes he should get to play.

You are probably wrong simply because everything you say makes 100% logical sense. Not many would ever accuse the KHSAA of being guilty of that.
