Just for fun, here. Let's see if we can come up with a first team and second team for all-time best players, by position.

Frank Minnifield, Dermontti Dawson, Craig Yeast, David Akers immediately come to mind for me. Jason Dunn, George Adams and Frank LeMaster are a few others.

I think Akers is probably the obvious first choice as top kicker, and Dawson has to make the first team as an OL.

Wide Receiver - Cornell Burbage (Bryan Station)

Defensive Line - Dennis Johnson (Harrodsburg)

Athlete - Yeremiah Bell (George Rogers Clark)

Any others from around Somerset/Pulaski County/Corbin, Richmond/Madison County, Danville/Boyle County?

Danville/Boyle County could make an all-star list on their own that could probably compete with any team.

Jacob Tamme, Lamar Dawson come to mind immediately

These are really difficult.

Are we choosing based on players who had the best pro career? Or the best college career? Or....the best players in high school.

It could be three totally different list of players.

Definitely best high school career.

Allen Sexton TE from Somerset was First team All-State 3 straight years and the leading vote getter his last two years I believe.

Jeff Duggins QB Boyle county 45-0 3 state championships, not to mention Mr Football. Bobby Leffew, Travis Leffew, Brody Overstreet, Lamar Dawson, Jacob Tamme.

If Jacob Tamme isn't on this list then something is wrong.

Definitely best high school career.

No one can beat Jeff Duggins high school career. 44-0, never lost as a starter and won 3 straight State Titles in the old 4 class system. Seen him take a QB sneak for over 80 yards twice in a game. He could pass, run, and had speed. The only thing he lacked was size, but he made up for that with a heart to win the game!

Possible Danville Players I am sure there are some I have missed:

Sammy Burke DB played at GA Tech

Chis Jones RB: Parade All American chose UK over Oklahoma in the late 70's

Donnie Redd RB/Athlete: Played at UK

Chester Ford DL: High School Nose Guard, Played FB at Tennessee

Nathan Fuqua DL: Multiple All-State player and was a 3 time All American at Wofford.

Kelvin (Dukie Turner) Turner RB/Athlete: Still very high on most RB related KY records. Yards, Touchdowns ect...

D'Mauriae VanCleave: WR: 2017 Mr. Fooball

Going back in time on players that most don't know or forgot.

Harrodsburg's - Henry Parks

Harrodsburg's - Venus Meaux

Danville's - Chris Jones

Danville's - Chester Ford

Danville's - Donnie Redd

Lincoln's - Jeremy Simpson

Garrard's - Wilbur Dunn
