MVP votes, are subjective and always open to debate but just my opinion here, when a team has 3 players that garnish votes in a team concept...than the voters are certainly not clear, whom is the Most Valuable Player on that team, much less in the entire AL.

Speaking as a Twins fan, nobody in our batting order was the true MVP this year. Johan Santana was the MVP of this ball club. He was the bright spot that turned this season around in early June.

 

MVP is a tough award to deal with. There were several Twins players who, at different points in the year, deserved this award. Morneau was the one who played great all year. But what really matters is what "most valuable" means in your mind. Could the Yankees win that division without Jeter? Yep. And they'd do it pretty consistently. Could the Twins have pulled off that division championship without Justin Morneau... not a chance. Clutch hitting all year, especially in close games, from Morneau is what put him on top and carried the Twins to a number of victories.

:thumb: :thumb: That was my thoughts when reading that post. I posted that both were deserving and imo they were. Jeter imo definately had the better numbers all the way around. I think that there is something to the "anti Yankee/Jeter" thing. The Yankees had multiple players hurt at times throught the seson and Jeter put them on his back and carried them. Jeter is far a far better all around player, no question. The winner had a great year and there is also no question about that. Jeter is/was better. JMO.

No suprise, well deserving

Maybe someone will create the "Best Bang for the Buck" award; that way there won't be any doubt that Morneau and Howard are deserving; we can go on and give Derek Jeter his MVP based on his accumulated body of work and Yankee fans can have something to cheer about.

I'm not sure I follow...:confused: since it sounds like you are saying the same thing I did, with the exception that no team could have 3 players, make a top 10 AL MVP voting list.

 

AL MVP is for the best player in the AL....period and if there are 3 players, that garnished votes of the Twins, the the voters themselves don't even realize who the best player is on the Twins, much less the AL.

Whoever won... the other had an argument for getting hosed. Congrats to JM.

My definition of a League MVP is: A player that shows throughout the season to play the game as it is meant to be played. A player that helped his team to win. A player that, at times, willed his team to win, when it needed it. A player that is an ambassodor on and off the field to which he promotes the game of baseball as it should, the greatest game on Earth. Derek Jeter's pic is next to the Words, Most Valuable Player.

 

Justin's #'s says he deserves it. Jeter's play says that he deserved it. :thumb:

Absolutely none. What I said was that if there was a "best bang for the buck award", there would be no doubt that Morneau and Howard would deserve it.
