March 31, 20197 yr The ending of this had just about everything. Purdue led by 3 as regulation wound down, and fouled on purpose to send Virginia to the line with 5.9 remaining. They hit the first, and put the second off the front of the rim (probably intentionally). They swatted the rebound to the backcourt, and threw back into the frontcourt for a tying bucket that was released with only .1 left on the clock. In OT, Virginia survived a three point attempt up 1, and then Purdue turned it over down three, never getting a chance to tie.
March 31, 20197 yr Obviously as a Kentucky fan, I just want them to win tomorrow and then sort it out. I was pulling for Purdue as the team I'd rather see if Kentucky were to advance, even though they seemed dangerously hot. It was not to be.
March 31, 20197 yr Yet another defensive team to the Final Four. I hope UK makes it a third tomorrow.
March 31, 20197 yr Hmmm so a defensive oriented team advances. Imagine that, it is possible. You read my mind.
March 31, 20197 yr Author One of the best games I've watched since the UK/Duke game of 1992. Also one of the best individual performances I've seen in the tournament. It was sad that someone had to lose this one. What killed Purdue in this one was the 17 offensive rebounds they gave up tonight. Finally what a move by Tony Bennett in the 2nd half Kihei Clark and going with the big line up.
March 31, 20197 yr Author I also thought Purdue looked gassed in the overtime after playing a overtime game on Thursday night.
March 31, 20197 yr Author Fouling with 5.9 in regulation is way too early...I agree usually but in that situation the Jerome kid for Virginia was getting ready to pull up for the 3.
March 31, 20197 yr Fouling with 5.9 in regulation is way too early... You wait to much longer and risk the chance of Virginia getting off a tying three or even worst risk fouling someone when they were shooting a three. It's not like they could wait much longer at all.
March 31, 20197 yr I hate how that ended. Edwards was amazing and if the gods were kind, that ball would’ve stayed in bounds.
