Texas Tech 75 Gonzaga 69 (NCAA Tournament Elite 8)

The few times I’ve seen Gonzaga this year the one thing I noticed about them were their guards leave a little to be desired in the ball handling department. That bit them in the butt tonight and was a large part of their numerous turnovers.

You all are killing me. Just keep acting like I’m crazy for saying UK hasn’t played well these past 2 games. Gonzaga was unable to do what UK has done these past 2 games which was win a close game. I think Gonzaga is still a better team than Tech, tonight was just Techs night. That’s how the tournament goes. One off night against a really good team and you’re season can be over like it was for Gonzaga tonight.

Are they?

Not even close if you look at the records and seedings of the last ten years. :thumb:

Yes, but the facts don't back up the assertion made earlier about Gonzaga=Kentucky last ten years.

Gonzaga is who we thought they were.

I agree somewhat. They did make it to the Elite 8. I know they were a #1 seed but so was UNC. This is a tough tournament to win.

I don't really know why, but I always feel glad when Gonzaga loses in the tournament. It's weird.

You don't seen to grasp most teams who even win the tournament dont play 6 complete games that they won. Most teams who have won it all, would probably even admit that they may have had one or two at most that they would say yeah we were clicking in all phases of that game. Most of the time they would even admit they just did enough to win that given game.

UK so far has done exactly what they have needed to do to win each game. Each game may take something different to win it. Like today it may take the offense scoring more while the defense has an off day. It still wouldn't be a complete game as you like to keep saying. But it would be them once again doing what had to be done to win. Quite honestly imo there is only one team where they will have be to play a complete great game offensively and defensively to win and that is if they see Duke.

In this one Texas Tech was trailing mostly all game but in the second half they did exactly what was needed to win again. It wasnt pretty but they did what they had to do to win. Which was holding Gonzaga the top scoring team in the country to almost 20 points below their average. It's all about winning on that given day against that given opponent.

I guess I’m confused. Are you saying they’re equal over the last 10 years or not?

Texas Tech got away with a lot of reaching, hacking, and bumping fouls yesterday. Defense can be very good if you're allowed to do that and not get a whistle. Many of their steals sure looked like fouls to me on the replays. They're extremely aggressive on defense and if refs permit that type defense without calling fouls it definitely makes Tech a whole lot more dangerous in this tournament.

With that being said they are an impressive team.

If they play Duke they won't get away with it.

Someone said in another thread that Gonzaga is on par with UK over the past 10 years. I think Hatz’ first post was in jest of that.

I'm not. A particular poster stated that he believed they were during yesterday's conversations. I was responding to that notion as there is no way logically his assertion was true. :thumb:

It wasn’t that long ago they were going to clean up the game from this. It gradually worked its way back.

Agree. They'll be in foul trouble in the first 8 minutes of the game.
