Just curious??

Or am I the only one?:D

I think your the only one. J/K

I would just like to see the championship decided on the field with an 8-team playoff, but hey, don't think it is gonna happen like that for a while.

Just curious??

Im sure your not the only one, but you definitely are in the minority most likely...:D

I like the bowl season, no doubt about it...but it is hard to go against the ability for these teams to settle it on the field.

Not saying the BCS is the devil but I have never heard a valid arguement for the BCS and against a playoff.

I believe college football is really unique in how its season is made up and really makes teams be on their toes week in and week out. For 99% of the BCS teams, every week is your playoff. For 99% of teams, you do not get a chance to have an "off week."

Let us take last weekend for example. The UM/tOSU was being built up, in good reason, because a team was going to be eliminated. If there was a playoff, the urgency would not have been near as great (in fact, both of these teams would have been into the playoffs, if a team was up multiple scores, would they rest starters, people not play at 100%, etc.). Same for the game later that night. It just seems like every week there is another big game in college football. I really do not feel games would be AS BIG through an entire football season.

This the best arguement I hear for the BCS but I just don't happen to agree with it. If you have an 8 team play off you had still better win to ensure you get a spot in that playoff. Would the UM/tOSU game not have been huge without the BCS? Of course it would have been. it was 1 versus 2 and that has never happen before in this series. And who says that game decided anything. UM is still #2 in the BCS so there is still a chance they will play again. I don't think it would take away from regular season games it would just not punish you so much for a loss. Especially one that came early in the year when a team may be trying to find its way. Look at Arkansas, they are definitely not the same team that got smoked by USC but their chance of playing for the title is slim and none. I hate to go back to it but Auburn did what was asked of them and they shafted. USC the year before that. They get left out with one loss over a 1 loss LSU and Oklahoma. Last year the system got it right but that is one out of the last 3. No system is perfect but the playoff would be the better of the two, IMO.

^ However, I am not opposed to a +1 scenario. Same amount of BCS games and it eliminates, imo, the teams most deserving that worked out their kinks better than most.

The whole season is just a survival of the fitest. Arkansas is not the same as they were in Week 1... that is an Arkansas problem. Same for UF for having a brain fart in Auburn a few weeks back. UM had their chance to secure a shot at the title and could not get it done, that is the breaks. If the BCS polls give them another shot, then so be it, the rematch thing does not bother me.... (Intersting tidbit, on ESPN radio earlier, they stated if USC does win the next two, and impressively, they would approach passing tOSU.. that, I will admit is messed up).

I guess "pro-BCS" may not be the correct terminology, but I am not for an all out playoff.

I would like a compromise of 8 teams

Champs from

SEC

Big 10/11

Big 12

Pac 10

Big East

ACC

and two at large teams could be from these conf. or other deserving team

Play championship game week before Superbowl

Keep the rest of the bowl games, kinda like NIT for football. This would still let the rest of the teams a good payday. JMO

I don't mind it at all...

I used to be flat out against it...But the more the season goes along the more I'm cool with it... The Auburn thing will always be looked at as kind of a snub, but who is to say they would've won in the playoffs?

Also, people act like the people in BCS land are chewing their fingernails trying to avoid this scenario or other scenario... heck, they are loving this. College football is becoming one of the more popular American sports and people are always talking about it. Think how many discussions have been on BGP alone.

ESPN Radio reported the game on Saturday received a 12 (which was not even in Prime Time and competing with other games). The highest rated game of this past year's World Series was only a 10 (in prime time and shows how little interest there is in baseball these days).

This system keeps the money at the conference and school level. No way they let it go to the NCAA with any kind of playoff. It's here to stay, and I'm good with that. No other choice. Well unless I want to watch for a reason to complain... :D

I would be ok with that.
