November 18, 200619 yr I'm going to enter this as further evidence of my suspicion that the SEC is not even close to the best conference in the country this year. I wouldn't base anything on UK's defense. Keep in mind that Alabama beat this team 41-7 and Arkansas beat them 44-10. UK's defense is just bad. They have played a couple of good games this year but they are young. This was a definite let down as they should have faired better then this but maybe a little hung over from Georiga and Vanderbilt. Also were probably relaxed being bowl eligible and throw in possibly looking ahead to Tennesse. This was a trap game and they just about feel in it.

November 18, 200619 yr I think all of the major conferences are pretty even this year. The exceptions are... The ACC is weaker than usual and the Big East is better than everyone thought. I do think that this game should make Barnhart take pause. Does this kind of effort earn a contracy extention?
November 18, 200619 yr Big 10 Pac 10 Big 12 The Big 10 has 2 teams and a decent Wisconsin team, but other than they aren't much. The Big 12 has a couple of nice teams but top to bottom they are not that good. The Pac 10 you might be able to give a little argument for, but still still top to bottom SEC probably would be better. The only problem with the SEC is that they dont have one stud great football team like the other conferences, but top to bottom they are the best IMO...

November 18, 200619 yr If one of the allegedly better teams in the SEC struggles at home to beat a I-AA opponent, the conference is not that good. Upper-echelon conference teams are losing or struggling to win at home against middle-of-the road teams. Florida is weak. Arkansas looks good now, but we know the truth about them (USC). The SEC goes out of its way to hide its weaknesses by dodging good OOC competition. That insular attitude is coming back to haunt, just like it did last year in the Sugar Bowl. I'll grant that "not even close to the best conference" was a bit of an overstatement on my part, but the SEC is no better than any other of the three I mentioned. To say otherwise is a joke, and clearly a view through SEC-colored lenses.

Just look at his record during all his years at oregon. It wasn't that impressive at all there either. Now Im glad the team is doing better this year finally, but this game was just like all the other games before this year. There is no excuses for barely winning this game, if they would have ended up losing, that would have cancelled out the Georgia win IMO... I know he is not calling the plays on defense but there just is no excuse for this. I mean its senior day and against a team that I think only had 3 wins going into this game, he has to have his team more ready to play than this...Hopefully he can get them going again and have a good game next week against UT...:thumb:
