November 18, 200619 yr I think all of the major conferences are pretty even this year. The exceptions are... The ACC is weaker than usual and the Big East is better than everyone thought. I do think that this game should make Barnhart take pause. Does this kind of effort earn a contracy extention? I think that making Brooks take a long hard look at replacing some of his assistant coaches (Mike Archer), should be a part of the discussion toward an extension.

Then you need to give us evidence of what the other conferences you listed have done to say they are better than the SEC... I admit the SEC is not the best conference BY FAR like some people have said, but IMO they still when you go top to bottom is the best...

November 18, 200619 yr If one of the allegedly better teams in the SEC struggles at home to beat a I-AA opponent, the conference is not that good. Upper-echelon conference teams are losing or struggling to win at home against middle-of-the road teams. Florida is weak. Arkansas looks good now, but we know the truth about them (USC). The SEC goes out of its way to hide its weaknesses by dodging good OOC competition. That insular attitude is coming back to haunt, just like it did last year in the Sugar Bowl. I'll grant that "not even close to the best conference" was a bit of an overstatement on my part, but the SEC is no better than any other of the three I mentioned. To say otherwise is a joke, and clearly a view through SEC-colored lenses. What are you talking about Jim? Come on now! USC wouldn't have won 40 consecutive games or how many ever they won if they were in the SEC, Michigan and O$U wouldn't be 11-0 when they met if they played in the SEC, Notre Dame wouldn't survive the SEC schedule, any team in the Big East would be hurting in the SEC. People like you don't realize that the SEC is so tough that there are NO easy victories in the conference, especially on the road.

I disagree, because from top to bottom IMO they are the best conference. But they are not way ahead of the other conferences like some of the people have said before though...:thumb:
