What's best for the Region (money) has nothing to do with fairness for each individual team.

Ok then money, host team gets an extra share of the money for being the host school and do they get an extra share for being in tournament. Still doesn’t seem fair.

Is Gallatin not big enough to hold it? It seems like that would be a good trade off. 32nd district has to travel 1 hour or more to play at Henry while the Oldham district travels 20-25 minutes.

There are other schools plenty big enough to host the 8th region, but there is nothing like the Roy. The history that has been made in that building, the wooden bleachers, the lighting, everything about it screams Kentucky HS basketball. Yeah it sucks to drive all the way there for 32nd district teams, but it’s worth it to be in that building. Growing up, playing in that gym would have been like playing in the Garden. Pure nostalgia.

This has been and will continue to be an ago old debate, Henry is the largest gym and that's where it needs to be held. Why do you think some of the other regions go to the college gyms? Unless you are in the 6th,7th,9th, or 11th regions there will always be travel involved.

The only reason the 11th is doing it this year is because their rental property is being used in Richmond this year. Under your other plan, that still does not rule out the travel, actually it could be worst, SK/WV could have to travel to Spencer,Anderson, or Oldham Counties. Also it hurts the fans, can only watch one game as opposed to seeing two games at one location.

The (11th) Lexington region does not do that. They are only doing it this years use due to a scheduling conflict at EKU.

You’re correct. There is no way any other gym would be able to hold the weekend crowds, especially Friday night.

Looks like it will be a great tournament. I believe we could see a Gallatin vs WV final. Good luck to all the teams advancing to Regionals.

Seriously, it is fairly centrally located. I doubt WV wants to travel to Spencer County and vice versa. There is a “feel” in the regional tournament there that simply can’t be matched elsewhere.

I think Carroll County could hold it if we are talking about other gyms.
