I believe our refs are heading to the 12th so maybe we will have the 12 region, if it works that way.

My understanding at the draw was that we have the 13th region officials. But I got distracting text at about that time and could have misunderstood.

Wow....Eminence holds 2,000? I've called a lot of games over the years in the Eminence gym - although the last one was several years ago (did they enlarge it?) - but I never would have guessed that North Oldham's gym is smaller than Eminence's.

I guess appearances can be deceiving (or, like I said, maybe they enlarged it since I was last there).

Wow. 5400 Never been to Henry but plan to make the trip tomorrow. Looking forward to it based on what I am hearing.

Ok then money, host team gets an extra share of the money for being the host school and do they get an extra share for being in tournament. Still doesn’t seem fair.

No other gym could accommodate the crowd in the 8th. Besides, it's become a matter of region pride...the longest-running region tournament held in one location. A few years back, Henry was renovating the building, including the gym, and construction equipment was everywhere - meaning the parking was very limited. The powers-that-be looked at moving it - I believe Carroll County was the one most talked about - but ultimately, everyone bit the bullet on parking and we kept it at Henry County.

There are some really nice gyms in the region, but the nostalgia, the noise (from the bigger crowds), and the history have combined to create a tradition that almost everyone doesn't want to break.

I do realize the two northernmost schools - SK and W-V - probably don't like the drive....but I hope they never move it from the Roy. There's a magic there that can't be duplicated elsewhere.

The first round games are well-attended, but wait until the semis on Friday. The place will be packed, hot, and going totally nuts.

CM

I had a feeling we'd be facing Gallatin.

The top bracket is identical to last year's bottom bracket.....

I’m not sure Monday and Tuesday’s crowds could fit into any other gym. I’m positive Friday and Saturday couldn’t.

I’m with you. I saw that and was very skeptical.

So, I was so skeptical that I went back and double checked my numbers. I don’t know what I looked at the first time, but the actual number is 1000. That sounds about right.

And only 700 of those have their view obstructed by those pillars/beams.

No way Spencer County holds more than Simon Kenton, unless lap-sitting is counted at Spencer!

I would think SK holds more than Spencer Co., WV and Williamstown.

I have been around the 8th region for close to 30 years now. The region tournament needs to be at Henry County. The 8th region is special because it is at Henry County and if it were moved it would lose a lot of its luster. There are people who have no school affiliation who attend the tournament every year that would no longer attend if it rotates.

Moving the first round to home sites would be a terrible idea. There are kids who would miss out on a regional tournament experience by doing this. In my opinion that is not doing kids justice who work all year to make it to the region.

Finally, Henry County by my count has had one legitimate region title contented since 2000. No offense to them but that has just facts really. Therefore, most of the title contenders are playing each other on a neutral site which makes for a great tournament style atmosphere.

My only complaint is it gets steamy in there. Or least In does in the horseshoe. Wearing short sleeves tonight just in case the heat is turned up.
