Just got back in from Lexington. Some random thoughts:

 

1) That has to be the longest high school football game I've attended.

2) There was probably close to 1100 yards of offense.

3) When CovCath went up 49 - 28, I thought it was over. The Knights showed the heart of champion by clawing back to tie the score at 49.

4) The speed LexCath has phenominal.

5) The Lonesom Polecat formation by the Knights was fun to see. It seemed like their regular offense was doing well and I'm not sure why they went to it?

6) Definately worth the six bucks. What a game.

7) CovCath sure could have used Castenada tonight. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to him.

8) Hard to single any CovCath players out, but what a game by Brown.

Go JC!!!

Tonight they had about 370 yards passing, 300 yards of rushing...pretty good balance.

 

Defense gives up big plays at times against high-octane offenses like LC, but for the most part teams have had all kinds of trouble moving the ball this year.

When a team get 49 droped on them, I wouldn't say they should be thought of a defensive juggernaut. They have some football left to correct that though.

I think the Knights just had another 30 yard pass play...

Congrats to LexCath.... What a game..... Not in my wildest dreams did I think LexCath or anyone for that matter puts 49 on the board against CovCath..... Hope Joe C is back healthy next week..... Still can't agree with the Ref on Josh fumble that cost CovCath a TD. It sure looked to me that he broke the plane and then fumbled....

 

Again Congrats to LexCath what a game, what a game.....

A few notes:

 

Revere is one of the greatest high school players that I have ever seen, defensively and offensively.

 

LexCath's QB was very, very good at most times.

 

#5 on LexCath had quite a few drops.

 

Pete Sutton had 3 TD's.

 

Brandon Brown is unreal. Someone said probably the team MVP? No doubt it my mind, he had so many pass deflections tonight and even special teams tackles. He did everything.

Anyone got a box score? I missed most of the game because of work, would like to know how the scoring happened.

What an amazing High School football game !!!! So much offense I can't even fathom a guess on the total yards. Both teams played amazing on offense and completely dominated the others D. Congrats to the Colonels and the Knights for such a dramatic comeback and tremendous season after the players and coach they lost from last year.

 

A few thoughts......

 

I hope no one there had a heart condition because that was enough to give you a heart attack !!!! CCH Up 21 to start the fourth qaurter and the coach did his best to throw this one away. Still running the no-huddle and passing the ball up 21 and running no time off the clock !!!!! Played right into LexCath's hands and allowed a comeback. One series I believe was 3 and out with 30 some seconds and then the interception on 1st and 20 up 14 with 5 minutes to go, are you kidding me !!!! LexCath could not stop the run, for that matter stop anything. Run the ball, take time off the clock, no why do that lets throw interceptions and run the no huddle and take no time off and give it back to an offense that was going against a very banged up CCH D backfield.

 

CCH fumbled twice heading for the endzone or could have easily scored 70 or more with Pop also missing two FG attempts.

 

Unbelievable big plays by Bleser, Sutton, Wise, Brown, Buckley, Ganshirt etc etc (I hope I did'nt miss anybody but there were so many it's tough to remember)

 

Revere is even better than everyone said he was, kept them in the game and had to have a half a million yards tonight

 

Unbelievable game by Brown, re-injures his sprained ankle, goes out of the game only to return all taped up and intercepts a crucial late pass and then runs the clock out with 2 big runs on that sprained ankle. As 5432 mentioned he is the MVP, the glue that sticks them all together.

Anyone got a box score? I missed most of the game because of work, would like to know how the scoring happened.

 

Seemed to be on a 60 yard pass play just about every time. Congrat to CCH on the win, focus on next week. Congrats to LexCath on a great game and a great season. Most people will probably never see a high school game that exciting for a long time. Definitely worth the drive and the price of admission.
