Miami Beach/Fort Lauderdale Area

Featured Replies

Headed out of Miami for a cruise in September and planning to stay a night before and after the cruise. Has anyone been to this area have any hotel recommendations? Price isn’t too much of an issue. I expect to pay anywhere from 150-250 per night. I want something on the beach.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Never really stayed there, but have passed through several times.

You will be in the cigar capital of the US. Head down to the Calle Ocho.

Also if you tell them The General recommended them(AKA Cigar Dave) you might score a free smoke while you shop, or a discount.

I’ve stayed at Miami Beach Resort and Spa a couple times and liked it. Right on the beach. 10 mins or so from South Beach.

Been in that area many times. We go to Gulfstream Park a couple times a year. There are MANY great hotels in that area. I would recommend going to any bargain website to see what is available. Only got burned once.

Stayed in a rich motel in the heart, thank goodness I didn't have luminol.

Sorry, never stayed on the beach down there. I've stayed downtown a few times and out near Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Cruise several times a year, have found Ft Lauderdale more cost effective to stay beach side. Usually fly to Lauderdale as the low cost airlines use that airport. Stay at Hyatt or Marriott, then Uber to the port in the Morning.

Hyatt has been the go to of Pier 66. What Ship are you on?

Girlfriend and I stayed in Ocean Sky Hotel and Resort a few years ago. The rooms weren't anything special but it was right on the beach and we loved the pool area. They offered a very large discount for paying up front with no cancellation option.

If you're going on a cruise and absolutely know you won't be canceling I'd suggest looking for a place that offers that big discount for booking with no cancellation option.

Carnival Sensation.

Port of Miami and the Fort Lauderdale pier are two quite different locations.

You certainly don't want to stay at Lauderdale if you are cruising out of Miami or Vice Versa.
