I though the Beechwood game of 2002 was his final game for M.H.S.

 

Yes, he was. And he had a whale of a game, too.

 

I came away from that game being far mor eimpressed by him than any other player on Middlesboro's squad.

My keys to victory are pretty simple.

 

Belfry - protect the football, chew the clock, stay at home on D, and wrap up when tackling.

 

Middlesboro - create turnovers, force Belfry into 3rd & long situations, and spread the field to take advantage of their speed.

 

Special teams will be big on both teams part...very well could be the deciding factor in the game.

The Beechwood game was in his junior year. Idol graduated in 2004 with Blake Allen, Brad Cawood, Brian Patterson, P.J. Burroughs, Tyler Adams, and Justin Stewart.

 

The Belfry game was his senior year.

Idol was a stud. I saw him twice that year and was very impressed. Did he go on to play in college?

The fans and team from Middlesboro thank you for the safe trip wish.

I think that most of the fans are going by way of Virginia. However that is.

I was told that the roads are much better that way.

I want to echo orisonspi's post earlier wishing everyone from Middlesboro a safe trip. Coming up 23/119, when you get to Pikeville, you will be about 30 minutes away from CAM Stadium.

 

The trip from Pikeville to Belfry is easier than it used to be, the mountains have been bypassed and some of the 2 lane winding roads have as well. But they are still doing some road construction on the last stages of that project. Not enough to where they will hold traffic, but there are some small detours and areas where you need to be careful. Just a heads up.

 

When Belfry came down there in 2003, a lot of people went down 23 through Duffield and then took 58 over and through the tunnel into Middlesboro. That is a decent trip too if you don't want to travel 119 the whole way.

Go US 58 east to Jonesville, and you will probally want to continue on 58 past Lee County high till you get to Norton and you should reach US 23. Go north on 23 till you see the exit for US-119. Go right on US 119 for 22 miles, and you should see Belfry HS on the right from what I understand.

Yes I was just through there a few days ago, from Duffield to Pikeville is good roads and mostly 4 lanes. I like that much better than 119 through Whitesburg etc. Hope everyone makes it here in time and safely.

When you get near Pikeville, there are 2 or 3 exits for the downtown. Skip them. Just beyond there you will see Lowes and Applebees on your left and at that point US 23 North and US 119 North part ways. You turn right onto US 119 North and you will be in Belfry in 30 minutes or less. And you really can't miss the new high school.

M-boro may be a little too banged up. Belfry by 2 scores
