If the Redhounds pull it off like you are predicting they will score about 1/3 of the points that Russell has given up all year 104. On a sloppy field? I don't think so. Of those 104 most were scored on the number 2 and 3 defense. So do you still think they will score 33 points on Russell? I'm not saying they won't. I just don't think they can.

Is the Russell vs Corbin game on thursday or friday? The Ashland paper said on the front of the sports page it was on thursday?

Ashland is the only team that gets to pick what day they play on. Just kidding. Thurday is the day that they were going to have a acticle on Russell. The games are played on Friday.

All year if you read back at my post I have questioned Russells defense. I have said they are suspect??? Well I just went and looked at points scored against for 1-A through 4-A. I did not look at them all but Russell is right there on top of the defense scale. Maybe I'm the one that is suspect????

Surely the 2 point conversion won't come into play again this year.

Whatever it takes; anything is possible!

Russell will have another great game

Russell: 21

Corbin: 7

Im goin out on a limb and starting to feel more and more confident in the Hounds as the week goes on. Russell is a great team with one of the greats leading them but I think the arm of Cashen will be a big surprise to the Red Devil D as will the pressure Corbin's Defensive front can put on O Lines and opposing QB's. Unless you have very speedy backs that are quick to the outside, it's very hard to generate a dominant run game against the Redhounds.

Corbin 28

Russell 21

Not trying to slight Russell one bit, but I believe the 7 other teams remaining in 2A would probably have the same record if not undefeated. Same goes for Mercer, most teams would probably go undefeated with their schedule. I know you guys are in a large district, but man, that schedule is cupcake city. 5 opponents made the playoffs with a playoff record of 2-5 (all are out) opponents combined record 42-65.

Now if the other 7 teams played Corbins schedule - I'm sure all would end up with a better record than Corbin, I believe most would lose to Rock and Bell - Middlesboro would be a toss up. Corbin had 8 opponents make the playoffs, playoff record is 7-6 (2 are still playing). Opponents combined record 59-54.

As I said, I'm not trying to slight Russell at all. The 8 team district kind of handcuffs you on scheduling descent opponents. The other 3 games were traditional rivals I'm sure....

Cal preps.com projects the game as follows:

at Corbin (KY)

[2006] Russell (KY) 28, [2006] Corbin (KY) 27

at Russell (KY)

[2006] Russell (KY) 31, [2006] Corbin (KY) 24

at neutral site

[2006] Russell (KY) 28, [2006] Corbin (KY) 26

Freeman ratings actually have Corbin (7) rated above Russell (9).

Last weeks Litkenhous Ratings had (7)Corbin 86.0 (9)Russell 85.4

Massey has Russell (5) Corbin (12) not including last week.

Cantrell has (3)Russell (11-1) 68.3 (8)Corbin (7-5) 57.5

I'm not a big believer in letting computers tell me who is the better footbal team, especially this time of year. Sounds like it could be a good game to watch.

I agree, computer rankings are hogwash.

Russell should win with no problems.

Russell-30

Corbin-16

Clark is the type of back who loves the one on one in the open field. He enjoys putting his hand right in the face of the tackler and pushing him to the ground rather than just out running him. He has great power to break through the line and then just enough speed to break away and score. All teams key on him and many are good at it. Then Jones, Beekman, Lewis, Frasier, and Big number 10 take over.

This will be a good one. But the backs and recievers are nothing on this team without the linemen. I know most of us don't care about the most important players on the field. No I don't have a son that's a linemen. Every great run starts with a great block from a lineman. Russell has improved a great deal on both lines over the past several weeks. HOLD THE BLOCKS. If Russell wins it will be won on the line.

Come on, why would you even answer that question. I understand all the friendly predictions and everything but don't give em' a strategy guide to Russell football. You don't think that some of these people on here are from the school or with the program in some sort. As far as many schools good at comtaining him, please name one for me other than the East game in which he sprained his ankle. The only person who has contained Kasey Clark is Coach Ivan McGlone. Kasey usually only played a half and if Coach didn't need him, he didn't risk injury to him. Last week he only had 8 carries because we didn't need him and he was done before halftime. Like I said, I'm all for the friendly jestures by the fans I'm not trying to be negative to anyone, especially Jeepman because he always speaks with his brain and not his heart and I like that, but you've got to draw the line somewhere. Especially when you have 2 teams who don't know each other very well other than a game tape they've watched, you want that element of surprize and if we "fans" tell all of the secrets you might as well through that element out the window.

Russell and Corbin are 2 very good football team who are capable of beating one another on any given day. If Russell comes out and plays the way they are capable of I think they'll win. If Corbin plays great then they'll probably win. If they both play great it will be a toss up, they both seem to match up well. I look forward to being at The Hank for one final time, this game means an aweful lot to these seniors and they do not want to leave Ivan McGlone field with their heads down. Good luck to both teams and may all of Corbin have a safe trip to Russell.

There are ZERO head coaches in the state of KY that have a team playing at this point in the year that would take the chance of using strategies talked about on here as part of their gameplan. Some posters on here have a very high football knowledge,, but if I was a head coach I SURELY would not put stock into what I hear discussed on this site.

Why would Corbn's coaches put stock into a secondhand description of Clark when they will have their own gamefilm to break down and judge for themselves?

That being said... certain things posted here have became billboard material in the past, injury reports have leaked that have been important, so it is a necessity to be wary what you type... but I think jeepman is safe on this one.

Did I say anything about HC being on here? I don't think I did. And I also never said anything about a HC using some fans strategy as part of their gameplan. Please don't turn my words into something they're not. But people affiliated with programs do get on here as well as players and some of those people do take info they hear and pass it on, such as an injury report as you stated. You think one gamefilm tells you everything about a player or a team that you want to know, I don't think so. Some people on here are not just fans, some are actual staff members of programs and when you're facing a game this important, you'll take all the info you can on the other team especially if the teams don't know each other. You have to be careful what you type because you really have no clue as to who is on the other end. You would be naive to think otherwise.

Certain things, yes, but can you tell me anything that jeepman said thatwould be beneficial or couldn't be easily gathered?

Also no matter how many people the info passes through ultimately who would make it part of their strategy? The head coach.. and the point you just made furthe rillustrates my observation,, because then not only would a coach be making strategic moves based on fans opinions.. but it would be second hand information they are receiving.

This is a great site where educated fans (and some staff members) can discuss games.. sometime spertinent info may be passed..but 99% of the stuff on here will have ZERO bearing on the actual game. Talk it up, have fun, just use restraint is my opinion. I think jeepman ahs been around long enough to know where the line can be drawn.
