Never said that. Just spelling out the advantages of the system of money making money. A situation that the 5.15 an hour can never bennefit from.

The guy making minimum wage pays no federal income taxes so you can't cut his taxes.

A person making $5.15 an hour pays NO federal income tax. Period. How do you cut zero????

And people who are fortunate enough to live in a country that requires them to pay little or no federal income taxes should show some gratitute to those who pay their more than their fair share of the tab.

 

Demonizing taxpayers who not only pay far more in terms of total dollars but also a far higher percentage of their salaries in federal taxes really gets old. Living in this free society and striving for wealth is not a privilege for American citizens.

You didnt answer the question...the $5.15 an hour guy has EXACTLY the same opportunities as the "rich". I would also consider making your money work for you as intelligent...you know DD you can work with your mind as well as your hands.

Interest income, unless it is interest from a municipal bond, is taxed as regular income. Dividends are taxed at 15% unless your marginal tax rate is 15% or less, in that case dividends are taxed at 5%.

 

Please define tax shelter. Isn't a 401k or an IRA a tax shelter? I believe anyone who has earned income can contribute to an IRA. The only difference is that if your income is above the threshold you cannot deduct the contribution. Actually a penalty for having a high income.

I never said that the House or Senate have done a good job. I am just sick of hearing about how the rich are the ones who benefit from the tax cut and then refuse to acknowledge the fact that everyone received a tax cut. Then they distort the facts to support their convoluted thinking.

Some expect the rich to pay for everything. I know a lot of families that really benefited from those tax cuts.

I'm not sure that is even possible if nothing else has changed on your paycheck or on your tax return.

Back to the subject of Al Gore running for President... From a Republican standpoint I think his running would be a great thing for us. The Republican nomination is going to be long and drawn out with no clear favorite as of yet. I'm hoping Senator Clinton and her large warchest that she has on hand will be fighting versus Obama vs. Kerry vs. Gore in the primaries. The longer and bloodier that race becomes, the more even the playing field becomes for us. If Clinton disposes of these guys early she is going to have tons of $$$ and a full head of steam going into the general election...

You know what's hilarious? The fact that you can find any Dem candidate laughable, yet you can't come up with a decent GOP candidate.

 

Here's what's even more funny: Most of America would love to see either Rudi Giuliani or John McCain as a candidate, but the hardcore GOP-types go out of their way to discount/discredit both.

 

Of course those hardcore GOP-types — i.e. hardcore right-wingers — were the same ones who donated thousands of dollars to Bush campaigns, and the same ones who invested so much of themselves that they can't fathom hearing a bad word about him. So much so, they shout down anyone who dares offer a critical word and accuse them of being a "hater" and an "obstructionist."
