Actually on a percentage basis I believe the lowest levels benefited the most. I'll have to go back and check and I guarantee you Jim that your taxes paid as a percentage of your income are less than 6 years ago.

 

The tax cuts were made for the rich. They benefit the most from it, and to argue otherwise would be silly. The fact that middle-class folks benefit is just a fortunate unintended consequence. And I have yet to see any benefit from it personally. If anything, I get less of a tax refund than I got 10 years ago.

All that rich folks' stuff takes a back seat when American boys and girls are dying daily for a personal war with no end in sight. Did I hear NPR right? 18 today? I thought the mission was accomplished 2-3 years ago?

 

But keep telling me how great things are for people who make $300K a year. The real crime is how the GOP has snowed most of the country into thinking they're rich, and subsequently voting against their pocketbooks. At least the American public is finally waking up, despite taking a sledgehammer to the head for six years.

For the record...my brother...WHO VOLUNTEERED!!!...is serving his 3rd TOD and he isnt complaining about the war...as a matter of fact he stands firmly behind his President. He had the opportunity to get out after both of his first two tours...knew he would have to go back for a third and did.

One thing that drives me nuts about the dems...is they will give NO credit to Bush for the economy. They want to talk about how great the economy was under Clinton when it all reality it was white hot with over-valued tech stocks that blew up. Our unemployment is at a RECORD low...but yet the dems will say its all McD's jobs. Give me a break. You can argue Iraq and maybe a few other things you dont agree with but give credit where credit is due.

And people who are fortunate enough to live in a country that requires them to pay little or no federal income taxes should show some gratitute to those who pay their more than their fair share of the tab.

 

Demonizing taxpayers who not only pay far more in terms of total dollars but also a far higher percentage of their salaries in federal taxes really gets old. Living in this free society and striving for wealth is not a privilege for American citizens.

If they are adults with jobs you had better believe my kids would help with household expenses. I would hope to teach my kids responsibility and self-reliance rather then relying on handouts from anyone (including me).

Someone works hard and pays 25% - 35% back to the government so that others don't work at all can pay 0% taxes. You tell me who is benefitting from the system.

None of my kids have graduated college and I am picking up the cost of whatever expenses that they cannot cover. I am also helping pay for the feeding and education costs of at least hundreds of thousands of kids of people who have no legal right to even be in this country. But it's all good - I am still privileged to have a roof over my head and I can afford food and transportation to and from work.

Do you honestly believe that the Democrats will place a higher tax on the rich? How many of the politicans in D.C. (Republicans, Democrats and others)are millionaires my guess is 100% now are they going to raise their own taxes, when they vote themselves a pay raise each year. The middle-class has carried the tax burden for years and sad to say they will for years to come.

Let's see, intrest income on millions of dollars, money they didn't work for.

Dividens on millions of dollars, money they didn't work for.

Business incomes, money that keeps rolling in even while they are not on the clock like the guy earning his 5.15 an hour would have to be.

Tax shelters. Offshore bank accounts. I would call those bennefits that the minimum wage earner does not have.
