Al Gore 2008: Looking More Likely?

Featured Replies

Has this turn of events made Al Gore a likely frontrunner for the Democratic nomination in 08?

Dick Morris says so, but I have a hard time seeing it myself. I hope that another liberal steps up to challenge Hillary for the nomination. Maybe they will bloody each other up enough to allow a moderate Democrat to get the nomination.

Al Gore in 08 could spell death for the Democratic party in my opinion. Neither party will benefit from running a hard-core partisan next time. I think the party that puts forth a moderate who can reach out to both parties and who is perceived as a "true" moderate and not just one who runs as such, will be in a good position to win the White House.

No doubt.

I will be extremely disapointed with the Democrats if Gore, Kerry, Dean, etc. are the ones leading the charge down the stretch. Surely they are smarter than that.

As a Republican I can only say.........

"God, I hope so!"

Al Gore acquired a huge liability when he made the movie An Inconvenient Truth. The liability comes not from the subject matter, but from him admitting that he admitted to stretching the truth quite a bit in the making of the movie.

As a human I can only say.... "God, I hope not." A few more months of Gore might push me over the edge.

As a fellow republican I can certainly understand your point and have felt the same way in the past. However, as I have grown older I have also grown weary of the war that has been waged between the two parties. Nowadays, it seems to be more important to "one up" the other party than to actually govern the country. I can honestly say that I would entertain voting for a candidate of ANY party that demonstrates moderation, fiscal responsibility, and love of Country. I guess I'm getting soft in my old age.;)

That having been said, I will admit to posting material in the P&R forum that riles some people at times. But, it is mostly in fun and is done with the intent of stimulating debate.:D

I think a lot of folks may look at Gore differently when he reminds them that he was against the war. If this war continues to go poorly in the minds of the voting public, that could have a huge impact on those folks who are not in lockstep with one party.

IMO he has a much better chance of winning the office than Hillary does.

Where's the "lock box?"

LOL. That reminds me of the incredibly funny SNL skits where Will Ferrell (Bush) debated Darrell Hammond (Gore).

I hope that Gore is not the nominee, but if he is, I think he will win. He'll just have to remind everyone how much better off they would have been if he had won in 2000.

Al Gore has "reinvented" himself several times since he was worthy fodder for comedians. He has gained weight, lost weight, grown a beard, shaved his beard, and totally changed his speech patterns. He now has the cadence of an old time evangelical preacher and is prone to injecting a few screams when delivering a speech. Gore is a much more engaging speaker now with the same nutty ideas. That alone should make him a serious primary candidate in the Democratic Party.

Convince, not remind.
