That CovCath D has been amazing the past few years!!!! A question for the CovCath faithful, what is that good awful song they play after a TD?? It sounds like a Japanese cartoon or something. It is awful lol!!

That's actually the school's fight song. John Lawrie, one of our defensive ends, is an accomplished pianist...he actually has composed a piece of music that was played by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He made a remix of the fight song in the style of Nintendo's Mario Bros...similar to the end-of-level music on each level of the video game. The players and the students love it and that's what's important.

I like it too. Means something good has happened.

Colonels lineman Lucas Jones didn't play in the first game. Back for this one and really helped make Sisson a non factor most of the game.

Also, Jacob Shriver was back for this game and was a beast up front on the Colonels D-line recording 3 of the 5 sacks by CovCath’s D.

Covcath has made many offenses look bad the last two seasons. To where it really doesnt matter who is calling the plays, they are going to make most plays look like bad plays because it's so hard to execute against them, unless you also have the type of talent they have. Which many teams dont this year including Highlands.

Unlike the HHS Coach, the CCH Coach is using their best talent on both sides of the ball. The HHS coach refuses to play guys both ways and apply their talent where it can be maximized on the field.

The HHS head coach switch from OC to DC and took over the defense, his old position when Dale ran the offense. This change has made the defense much better than in the past. However the Offense has not improved as much. I believe as a mid size 4A school playing up is 5A the coaches have to maximize the use of their best talent.

In the past the offense always had a strong quarterback, I am not seeing that now. I believe in part because they are not utilizing the talent they have and the QB play has been adversely affected.

Plain and simple: CCH came out conservatively and still were outplaying Highlands. All part of the gameplay. Score could have been 13-0 at Half with the O not playing well.

Eddie put his foot on the Bluebird throats quick in the 2nd Half. If these teams played 10 times, Highlands would be close 0 times when CCH is healthy.

This IMO was HHS best chance to get CCH for the next 5 years. I could be wrong. JMO. Eddie is the next Dale if he stays that long. He is not going anywhere for awhile.

That was my final take on the game.

I don’t know about this is the best shot for the next 5 years. Next year they’ll still be good yeah. But if that’s the way you think you don’t know what you have. A Casey McGuiness only comes around once a generation, a Michael Mayer only comes around once in 100 years, Coldiron is a D1 guy. Great Oline that has started together for years. Cov Cath has all this stuff overlapping. That is rare. Even if young talent is coming up that is supposed to be good the chances of having a handful of top tier D1 Guys is super rare.

And for Eddie staying a while..... Eddie left the H.S. he went to for a job at a college. Just saying, he was winning state championships for his old school and was still able to be pulled away. And rightly so he is a tremendous coach. I'm sure some colleges are looking at him by now that have the money that Cov Cath does not have. Maybe he loves the set up and the families and the faculty so much that he sticks around but I don't know. Who knows though, maybe he got a taste for that and likes H. S. coaching better. Is it possible that a Trinity, Moeller or Elder could pull him away? It's not about loyalty, its about providing for a family, it could happen. He definitely could be the next Dale, I just don't know if he will be there that long.

For the collective mindset in Ft. Thomas, you guys should hope it's shorter rather than longer.

:lol2:

I hope he stays at Cov Cath. Trust me, as a Highlands fan I know nothing lasts forever. We all have forgotten what this rivalry was like just 5 years ago. I know what it feels like to be in your shoes right now.

I just know if a company comes to me and says, "Want to make double what you are now?" I'm listening. And he is that good of a coach. Actually the chances are he stays. He knows he will never get stabbed in the back at Cov Cath.

Saying Casey only comes around once in a generation is strong. He may be the all time leading rusher, but that does not mean he was their best. He is in the conversation.

I am not going to get into next year and beyond at the risk of hijacking this thread. Good win Colonels.

With the changes coming to 5A next year and the fact it looks like CovCath is just going to reload instead of rebuilding...will be an interesting thread once it gets started.

Very well said and much more diplomatic than I would have been regarding the offense. How well would this offense have looked if Jason Lynch or Kevin Siple were running it with the athletes they have? It took BW a few years to realize that the former DC could not get it done, now it is time to make the change at OC. You have a former head coach and really good offensive mind working out of the Central Office, maybe give him a call.

Siple has been let go at 4vschools in 4 years. Can't seem to get along with any staff.

Once in generation? Is this a Shaun Alexander thread?
