October 21st AP Poll

I’ve explained my reasoning for why I don’t believe UCF should be considered for the playoff ad nauseam.

So because YOU think they have 1/4 the talent of other top 25 teams, they aren't worthy of their ranking? :lol2: Voters and people who are paid to evaluate these kinds of things disagree.

Results on the field for the last 20 games say they have more talent than you realize. (20-0 if you lost track)

This isn't basketball. 4 and 5* kids are great to have but you can build a top 10 program with a bunch of 3* kids mixed in with a 4* here and there, with the right coaching and development. Same makeup of talent just smoked the Buckeyes. Carry on.

Wait you just tried to argue that Purdue and UCF have the same level of talent? :lol2: Have a good day!

Consider me out of the UCF conversation. No sense in arguing about something that doesn’t matter with regards to the playoff. UCF is never making the playoff as currently constructed so there’s no sense in arguing semantics.

Let's stick to the issues, not each other.

UK’s defense is that good, IMO. Sure the offense struggles when they aren’t feeding Benny, but their defense will keep them in the game against most teams.

Vegas must agree with me, UK is a touchdown under dog to unranked Muzzou

We’ll see.

As I said the only way they get in besides the ways I mentioned is because of name and name only. Not because they deserve it.

So if Ohio State gets in over Texas/ Oklahoma it would be because of name? TCU/ Baylor I understand, but not against two fellow blue blood programs.

Zero chance OSU gets in and zero chance OSU even deserves to be in the conversation if it comes down to them and a 1 lost Big 12 Champ. Just like when we had this debate last year. It's one thing for OSU to have an off night and get upset in a close game. It's another thing to get completely beaten down by a bad team. That beat down to Iowa kept them out last year and allowed Bama to get in. Just like their beat down to a bad Purdue team will stop them from getting in, unless all these other teams tank completely and end up with two losses. Shoot even a 1 lost Notre Dame team should be in over a 1 lost Big 10 Champ OSU team, as long as Notre Dame doesn't get beat down in their lost. OSU for them to deserve to be in, needs some teams to lose not just one but two games.

That is the only way they would deserve to be in. If they get in any other way, it's because of name and name only. Not because they deserve it or one of the 4 best.

Agree completely!!

Not sure what point you are trying to make...but let's compare the two, just for fun, based on recruiting rankings:

2018:

UCF #70 (Avg 83.47)

Purdue #51 (Avg 84.64...1 4*)

2017:

UCF #55 (Avg 83.36...1 4*)

Purdue #72 (Avg 81.88)

2016:

UCF #65 (Avg 82.62)

Purdue #80 (Avg 81.13)

2015:

UCF #71 (Avg 83.55...1 4*)

Purdue #67 (Avg 81.75)

The rankings don't account for transfers in/out and the size of each class, but both have recruited pretty similar talent overall.,,,which makes it even more impressive that UCF is doing what they are doing right now and proves my point that developing the right kinds of kids can build a top 10 program.

Sadly still yes, because it definitely wouldn't be because they deserve it more than either of those one lost big 12 programs.

Hence why I think there is zero chance though, because i dont think they would. Since OSU really wouldn't deserve it.

You can have a bad day and lose a close one to a bad team. You could even have a bad day and get by a nice margin against another really good team as Georgia did with LSU. What you dont see if a team get beat down by a bad team. There is no claim to being one of the 4 best in the country if you get beat down by a bad team.

I’ve checked out of the UCF conversation it’s not worth repeating myself over and over for again something that doesn’t matter because they won’t ever make the playoffs. We can debate why they won’t make it until the cows come home, but debating the semantics of why is a waste of both of our time.
