They (are) would be one of the best 2A teams if they were actually a 2A team (they are actually a 2A team despite high 3A enrollment - 5A next year). If Mercer fails to win 2A this year, it could be one of the biggest upsets in highschool history........

 

 

Most 2A teams remaining (not all) could accomplish the same record with the soft schedule Mercer has played, still very respectable.

All the negative posting on Mercer could give them a powerful inferiority complex. Teams that develop that outlook usually play VERY hard.

 

Bottom line...all this stuff is bound to feed the Titans...

I have no problem with any teams fans posting, or for believing in their team for that matter. I was just pointing out that last year a lot of O'Cath's fans thought that everyone else was playing for 2nd place, and that the championship game wouldnt' even be close. I guess I'm just old school, where I was taught to respect everyone.

 

 

You are exactly right. In looking back at the postings from last year from the OC faithful I'm not sure why Russell showed up in Louisville to play the game. It appears that the Mercer faithfull is as powerful as OC faithful. I know the Mercer fans are very excited and they should be. The only problem is that the players will play the game and it may not be Russell or Mercer or Western. Who knows. The Belfry bunch are very quite. As you said OC had everyone playing for 2nd place. I think that Mercer has everyone playing for 2nd place also. NOT THE PLAYERS but the fans.

Everybody knows that Mercer and Russell are a lock for Papa Johns. We are a long shot and an underdog, so we don't have much to say.

I would say that Corbin Could beat them

 

Have seen Corbin. They couldn't stop Mercer's running attack. It is the best I have seen all season.

 

The 3 favorites in 2A going into the playoffs remain the same IMHO, Mercer, Western and Russell.

The same team that was going to win it when Breathitt was still in it.

I don't see a whole lot of Mercer fans on here guaranteeing victory in December. I think alot of this is brought on by other posters. I for one havent guaranteed a spot in Louisville. I spend alot of my time defending Mercer on here. But, alot of people that are posting that Mercer is going to take it all are just critics. There are just a handful of Mercer fans on here. But, I'm just looking forward to friday. I don't want the season to end myself. I love high school football.

Mercer is the favorite. When you are number one you will get some heat. That's one of the reasons why I have said numerous times that Russell's loss to Ashland was the best thing that ever happened to them. They know they can be beaten on any given night. I'm not so sure Mercer feels that way. Then just when you get over confident. Opps Western gets beat. No one would have thought that. See what I'm saying. Over confidence can kill a team. I'm one that would like to see Mercer in Louisville playing the Devils of course.

I will say that Russell will repeat this year. They are a good team and know how to win.

Let me enlighten everyone on Mercer's defense. If you think that Mercer will have trouble handling a team that wants to get "physical".....just tell that offense to bring it to Chris Lewis, Rashad Buster, Nick Reed, Demarkus Masterson, Freeman Edwards, Blake Arnold, Aaron Bee, Daryl Smith, Andre Brooks, Sam Blackburn, and William Harris (and a few others who sub in and out). This defensive unit will flat out hit you! They won't run from you, they will be knocking you down! Bring it on, baby! Mercer's defense is the real thing! Just ask Lexington Christian Academy, Garrard County, Boyle County, South Laurel, Casey County, Newport, Spencer County, North Oldham, Lloyd Memorial and Henry County. Not one team has scored more than 19 points on this defense the whole year. The good thing about this defensive team is that they take one game at a time. They don't look ahead. They go out on Friday nights and take care of business! THEY LOVE TO GET PHYSICAL AND WELCOME ALL CHALLENGES! This defense is the real deal!
