Let me enlighten everyone on Mercer's defense. If you think that Mercer will have trouble handling a team that wants to get "physical".....just tell that offense to bring it to Chris Lewis, Rashad Buster, Nick Reed, Demarkus Masterson, Freeman Edwards, Blake Arnold, Aaron Bee, Daryl Smith, Andre Brooks, Sam Blackburn, and William Harris (and a few others who sub in and out). This defensive unit will flat out hit you! They won't run from you, they will be knocking you down! Bring it on, baby! Mercer's defense is the real thing! Just ask Lexington Christian Academy, Garrard County, Boyle County, South Laurel, Casey County, Newport, Spencer County, North Oldham, Lloyd Memorial and Henry County. Not one team has scored more than 19 points on this defense the whole year. The good thing about this defensive team is that they take one game at a time. They don't look ahead. They go out on Friday nights and take care of business! THEY LOVE TO GET PHYSICAL AND WELCOME ALL CHALLENGES! This defense is the real deal!

OK, thats it, everyone else just go home. Mercer Co will hit you. Go figure. Its a football team that will hit. This has to be a first.

Wow!! Sounds like a state championship team to me. Good luck in Louisville.

A little early in the day to be gettin' "10 ft tall & bulletproof".:D

I am willing to venture that the teams Mercer has held under 19 points would also be held under 19 points to the defense of Belfry, Russell, and Trigg County

You might be right concerning this year's Boyle team. (We'll see how they do with a healthy Tamme) But historically I'll take Boyle's chances against any of the teams you mention as well as their track record vs that region of the state.

This year definately... the past couple years... I think that the gap between Boyle and what used to be their region in the late 90's early 2000's has drastically decreased.

"Historically" also is a misleading word because the traditions of Belfry and Russell are substantially stronger than Boyle's when looking at the whole picture.

I am REALLY hoping the Rebels can get back to where their program was. With the way the community embraces the program, the expectations in place, and the feeder system they have established it shouldn't take too long for them to return to dominance.

I don't think I have ever seen this many exclamation points in one paragraph before.

I haven't seen Mercer this season but from what all that I have heard and read they are the clear cut favorite, no doubt. Imo is that Belfry or Russell wil have a lot to say about that. My pick would be either Russell or Belfry to upset Mercer in the titile game.

I just want us to make it to the title game. So much football to play before December 1, 2006. Our defense is tough and they are hoping to get to go up against a great offense but, we have to win friday cause thats the biggest game of the season for us. One and done is the thought in these kids heads. They know that. And they know there are some great teams out there. And Newport is coming to Mercer expecting to win.

Good post, ANYONE can beat a team if the other team is not focused on the task at hand and are looking ahead.

Prestonsburg all the way!!
