Birds Defense played very aggressively and literally had the SO running backs shakin in their boots. Nobody seemed like they wanted to carry the ball for SO....that is a tribute to the tough D and hard hitting.

Simons Blew somebody up on a punt... I felt sorry for that kid pursuing the ball.. he got right up and hustled off the field but I am sure bells were ringing and he was looking for the ice cream truck..

Cecil may be the fastest kid on the field .. I wouldnt be surprised to see a certain couple of players in on specific D situations next week.

Baby Birds looked pretty good.... Alford is a stud.. he has tremendous RB size for a Frosh.. He will run you over as opposed to run around you...Collinsworth has great speed to and made some nice runs. Would have been nice to get those guys in the endzone against the SO first teamers.

Haircut of the night goes to #40 on SO... looked like Hawk from the old wrestling tag team Road Warriors. You take that kid and put him on the Birds Defense and you are unstoppable because he is a player.

Good luck Birds next week.

Simons nailed somebody from SO the last time too, actually, it was 3 back to back hits in one punt return. 3 birds players and 3 blind side shots, with the last one being Simons' hit and i believe that kid came out of the game.

How many shots from Simons been talked about this season? Seems like every game. He is a player. IMO if he was settled in one defensive position he could be an All-State candidate. Even though he is rarely afforded the opportunity, #44 is also an excellent reciever, besides being the primary ball carrier on the 2 pt muddle huddle conversion. :ylsuper:

I also think he is the best wr ... Simons just doesn't get the opportunity to play on the offensive side of the ball very much..:thumb:

Good win Birds,TAKE CARE OF YOUR BUSINESS NEXT WEEK!

Wouldn't that have something to do with Bovard and Sutton not being on the opposition?

No...I was referring to techniques played...not opponents. For the record...I was not impressed with Sutton. Nice size, suspect hands. Made only one play and that was on an obviously blown coverage. Bovard made an excellent game-winning grab and a big grab on the late qb scramble...but once again, it was more of a product of poor pass coverage technique than offensive design. I do look for CC to try and exploit these two much more in the second meeting.

No kidding.

Gee, if Sutton needed any more incentive to have a great game and beat the Birds, you just gave it to him.

Yeah, I think we need a disclaimer.

Although I will agree with you about Sutton's suspect hands on certain plays.... I thought he made a nice grab on the TD catch and he was a two way starter who made some nice defensive plays as well. He is a player ....atleast one of their top 3 players so you have to respect that.

I just wish he would have caught that pass across the middle with 45 seconds left..... he does that, clock winds another 15 seconds and there are no Bovard Heroics.

No doubt that Sutton and Bovard are top-notch HS players...and have been for a couple of years now. No "diss" was meant by my earlier post...it was just an observation. To be the best, you got to play the best and BEAT the best. Let CC bring their best against our best...and the better will prevail. I believe that OUR best will beat THEIR best. And if they are lookin' for motivation on this site, for this game...WOW, they REALLY must be under motivated....which I highly doubt.

:thumb: I agree....I cant imagine Rodenburg and the boys are paying too much attention to BGP this week....in fact If he was smart he would attach a zapper to each player and everytime they logged on to BGP they would get an electric shock. :D

Sorry I totally disagree. I know my son and a lot of Highlands players regularly read this site. And trust me, there are lots of things they read on here that they don't forget. And if you don't believe that comments made by the other team's players and fans create extra motivation, well in a word, you are "delusional". If hardened, seasoned athletes like the pros can get extra motivated by comments like those Chad Johnson likes to make (and they do), then high school athletes likewise get extra motivated by comments made on here. Once you have a son old enough to be playing high school sports, you'll understand. Until then, just trust me for I know that what I am talking about.

I am not that naive LN... I understand many read this site as they should. I was only trying to say that during an important week like this one, the players should stay focused and not get too far caught up in what BGP'ers are saying. Some posts can be pretty idiotic and for some high schoolers it can be detrimental to their mental psyche.

I applaud many parents of athletes on here because it must be extremely difficult to read some of the things posted about their kids without wanting to jump through the screen.

I would also assume that your son's intrinsic motivation for this game will be ample enough to get the job done.
