November 2, 200619 yr It would be hard to deny them... God how crazy would that be? Rutgers in the National Championship? If UL loses tonight I will pull for Rutgers the rest of the way
November 2, 200619 yr No. Michigan with only a close loss to Ohio State, any SEC team with 1 loss, ND with 1 loss, USC with 1 loss, Boise St (kidding)....most likely to get the nod.
November 3, 200619 yr Do they get the championship spot against Ohio State/Michigan? Imo - Imo is No, they have no shot at a title game regardless. Jmo but you would have the loser of OSU / Mich. - Aubrn or Florida if they go unbeaten the rest of the way and there are others that might go over Rutgers. They imo are too far down in the polls and I don't think that they can jump that many teams by seasons end.
November 3, 200619 yr If it did happen and they got in, it would certainly be a sign of the apocalypse in New Jersey, if not the entire nation and world.
November 3, 200619 yr If they run the table, a lot of emphasis would be put on the fact that they are Rutgers and the Big East would definitely be denied the BCS title game, for sure.
November 3, 200619 yr Author How on one hand can you say that UL/WVU winner gets in and the BEAST is not a bad conference and on the other say an undefeated Rutgers who played the same conference schedule and the same weak OOC schedule NOT get in should they be the one with no losses? It defies logic . Too many teams to jump? IF they beat the 2 "legit" BEAST teams that are currently ranked #3 and #5, how can you not say as a voter that they should be ranked ahead of the same teams the current #3 and #5 teams are? Again, it defies logic.
November 3, 200619 yr Author Let me add one reminder: RP or someone told me that a team from the BEAST that is undefeated should beat any of the one-loss teams. How can that not applyto SUNJ?

IMO this topic will be a moot point in 7 days anyhow. The Scarlet Knights barely escaped UCONN at home. The Cards should thump them royally. Petrino will keep their thoughts on the NC, no way there is a let down.

But as you have pointed out, 2/3 of the equation is human polls, and when they play WVU it will not be a Top 5 WVU. They already look good in the computers, I just don't see voters putting them there...

But as you have pointed out, 2/3 of the equation is human polls, and when they play WVU it will not be a Top 5 WVU. They already look good in the computers, I just don't see voters putting them there... In my scenario, they would have beaten a #3 or #4 Louisville. While I think you are 100% correct, it only goes to show the serious flaws. "We'll vote these 2 in if they're the undefeated BEAST teams but not if its Rutgers."
