How close is McGinness to some of CovCath’s all time records?

The Covington Catholic division 1 players were the difference. Coldiron, Mayer and McGuiness made almost all the big plays. Whenever Covington Catholic got in a tough 3rd down or 4th down situation, one of those guys made plays.

 

Beechwood had a good game plan and executed pretty well. But if they got off schedule with one bad play or an incomplete pass, that ended the drive. Beechwood had two good long drives that ended in touchdowns. But Beechwood was not able to run the ball very well. Hergott is getting better every game. By the end of the season he will be even more of a force in the passing game than he is already.

 

When Beechwood had a 3 and out possession, that was when Covington Catholic would make a big play on their next possession. Covington Catholic's offense was a big play offense. Coldiron, Mayer and McGuiness. Big play after big play.

 

I don't think Covington Catholic is as good as last year. Their defense is not quite as good as last year's. They are still very, very good. But they are not as good as last year. I believe they are beatable in 5A this year, and last year's team was not.

Thought CovCath played a little sloppy tonight. A roughing the passer negated an interception on a drive that Beechwood would eventually score a td on. There were some holds in the open field that didn't need to made as the runner was past the point of the hold anyway. Things to cleanup. Didn't sense the same urgency going into this game from the Colonels as they had last year, but the scores ended up being very similar. Correct the mistakes, get the players healthy who sat this one out and CovCath will continue to improve as the season goes on.

I don’t expect Jones and Schriver back for CCH until the playoffs. JR Jones is CCH’s best offensive lineman, and Schriver is a 2-way veteran presence for CCH who is an outstanding defensive player who stuffs the run.

I thought Eddie was going to go for 2 at the end of the 3rd to make it 50-14 and keep the running clock streak going, but he did the class thing by kicking the extra point.

He currently holds both the career rushing touchdown record and the career total touchdown records for the Colonels, which were previously held by Jeremy Madden and set between '94-'97.

 

He's also currently on pace to beat the single season total rushing record, set in '94.

Prayers for Derry, hate hearing about any injuries.

Possibly a topic for another thread, but it's time for Kentucky to get play clocks. There were times both teams took too long to get a play off and the officials never flinched. I know at least one ball was snapped at least 3 seconds after a delay of game should have been called.
